Hi Guys,

I have just purchased some very nice four pot LCR Brembo's.

These will be going onto my Mk2 Fabia vRS replacing the stock 288mm calipers. Wheels are 17" and spaced so fitment is not the issue.

The guy I bought these off received them on a car he owned for a short period of time from a friend, the friend bought the car with the Calipers and Discs on. So the history of these calipers is lost a bit. In the last 12 months they had a powdercoat and seals done so are in very nice condition. All good so far, yes?

the problem is I was told that these have been converted to take 312mm discs.

But here's the rub, the carriers look to be originals.

So my question to any of you that know these brakes is, do you guys think these carriers look original or have they been modified? Can these calipers be used with 312mm discs on std LCR Brembo carriers?

I need to know as I have received the calipers with 312 discs and OE pads but I intend to replace these and need to know what to get. The 312's have been painted where the pad isn't being swept and you can see the disc face closest to the hub has a section that is not getting pad contact.

Will post a picture shortly, the website with the pic on is currently down.

Thanks for the help

Mark

Thanks guys I will get you a photo which will help.

I just don't want to assume I can go get some nice 323mm discs only to find the carriers have been altered down to 312mm size and there is no room for the 323's.

Has anyone run these on std carriers with 312's? Apparently the previous owner of these may have. :)

I dont think late MK1 lcr brakes with 323 discs will fit under 17" rims ....... late MK1 cupra R has 18" for that reason . That maybe why using 312 mounts .

No issue going under 17's with 323mm lots of people running these provided offset is ok.

Just wanting to know if the carriers look original to folks

they are standard carriers but may have been machined down on the mounting face to bring the caliper closer to the hub to run the smaller disc

If they had been machined down, they would sweep the full face of the 312. Since he says they don't, I'd say its safe to assume they haven't been machined

Guys, just to check back in and say a big thanks to everyone who posted.

The pads are definitely leaving a decent portion of unswept pad on the 312's, very obvious as they have been painted red up to the unswept edge. Curiously if you offer up the discs to the caliper, the pad does however look to clamp with the full pad face to the outside edge of the disc. I think the crux of the matter is that the 323mm disc is only going to protrude 0.55cm more each side of the hub than the 323 but the discs shape is different and the correct one for the caliper.

Between you top people and some help from guys on Brisky I am now 99.5% convinced these are standard carriers.

Researching lots of images it looks like at somepoint the carriers were revised and some have a more rounded design than mine have but it's safe to get some 323mm discs ordered up. Looking at EBC Ultimax lightly slotted performance discs and a toss up between DS2500's Yellowstuff and M1144 pads to go together with them.

thanks again.
