It depends on your setup, if you are getting a full delete kit then you will only need 1 blanking plate for the exhaust manifold end. If you are keeping your current setup for a while and just want to block the pipe then two is a good idea (one on each end of the pipe).

Good question.

The reason for removing the lot is because of the restriction that the EGR causes. You can see the size of the inlet pipes (about 60mm diameter). Inside the EGR valve the diameter is about 30mm so about half the size.
What that does is restrict the airflow which reduces power. This is due to thermodynamics and pressure losses due to the changes in diameter and the changes in flow velocity.

What you need to know is that a smooth pipe is better than a rough one and a large reduction in diameter is basically crap for flow.

Some say it does not change the characteristics very much, some say it increases torque lower down the rev range. There are a lot of different views.

On my 110 I am running a 150 intake manifold with a full EGR delete. I noticed a difference when I got it (very slightly) but since mapping it I have no idea if it is doing anything or not. Would have been rude not to buy if for £20 though.

Good write up mate, £20!! somebody's got lucky :) so I need plate, hose pipe and that egr fake looking thing which cost a mortgage! Anyone got a pic of their setup the bits I need? Cheers.

Keep the anti shudder valve you gain very little using race pipes but you lose smooth shut offs.

So best option is 2 blanking plates and just disconnect vac hose and block it?

Which one of these pipes is the vacuum one I take off and block after I fit the plate Top or side? Thanks.

Nice thanks, well that's me done for the day, oil filter change, new front discs n pads and egr delete, will be getting a full delete kit soon, but I'll cheekily ask again :) apart from darkside/allard kits which are £50+ is there any other companies around who do them cheaper? Many thanks peeps.

Hey just a quick update on the hidden power diy map, now I'm not gonna make out it's 100% cheese on toast but it's great for the penny's.

Covered 466 miles since map.

Fuel: was 41-42 mpg now sitting on 48.7 mpg and that's though lovely Taunton town traffic! Done a trip to Yeovil then Bristol back to Taunton mpg 54.1 mpg.
So all in all I'm happier with the miles.

Drive: well this pd150 is now around 183.4 bhp, they said a nice safe state for a pd150. Traction control off your spinning in 3rd! Turbo spins up a little earlier I'd say 1500 rpm but really picks up @ 2000 just what I asked for ( progressive, to keep the clutch happy)

Niggles: the turbo is now very loud ( dogs are coming from miles around) a lot less black sooty smoke but now a grey smoke when planting the foot. Don't know if I'm ok with that
When in 6th @ say 1500 rpm it judders almost like a miss-fire. Hidden power warned me to look out for clutch slip as your on an original at 88 thousand miles!

Good news: clutch for now is playing ball  the misses drives her Ibiza now and leaves my motor alone "that's stupid babe your Leons gone nuts!!! :p ) happy days.

Hi peeps been wondering why my pd150 mapped to 187 is slower then the wife's pd130 Ibiza, so popped all the hoses off and cleaned up, just a few questions guys, is this red pipe standard?

Also should there be that much oil here!

Cleaned it all up and still on kick in the back, its like I can feel the turbo coming in but not the venom kick the Ibiza has, mines pretty slow to boost up. Cheers peeps

Hi m8.. I have driven my m8s pd130 and yes they do certainly put you back in the seat more.. I have read a lot of posts on different forums and they all say it's because the turbo is smaller so spins up quicker.. And don't forget the ibiza is a lot lighter too.. That red pipe is standard I believe as my pd150 04 plate has the same. And yes it's normal to have a bit of oil in those pipes..

Yeh my turbo has been making whooshing sound since I got the car.. kinda learnt to live with it lol.. Can't find any boost leaks sounds like I may have inlet or exaust manifold leak somewhere.. I would only do mr muscle treatment if your getting limp mode. Easy to check if its blocked up just remove the 2 bolts on actuator and you will feel if it needs it straight away. .
