shes back...

went to tax her online and then found out my MOT ran out last month!!! she has a large crack in the windscreen so need that sorted then MOT then tax then happy days.. another £245 lighter.

oh well just so happy shes back, think its gonna be the body works turn next me thinks

So since fitting the new engine nearly 2 years ago it has just been used as a daily and has become quite unloved. Dings and scratches all over the place engine looking dirty just lost interest.

Last month I travelled 3 hours away to go pick up a Golf GT TDI 150 that turned out to be a right dog so walked away after driving a few I decided I just couldn't walk away from the Leon and after seeing so many on ebay breaking i didnt want to see another one have to go off to scrap yard heaven so with some of the cash I had saved for a different car I have now started to do a few things

first of all Toyosport FMIC:

however after having to cut the front bumper so much it looked so bad:

soo I decided I would go get an LCR bumper as I just couldn't bare the look any longer, i painted it my self using colour match aerosol just need to flatten the orange peal and give it a good DA Polish and will be spot on

still waiting on top and lower grill's though

also on the agenda was a Toyosport downpipe and decat

So that's the current state of play with the reboot, today I sanded back a few of the scratches ready for a good DA polish have got to repair the dents that have accumulated and finish the bodywork off then it will be in for Revo stage 2

Update:

I now have all the grills for the bumper thanks to SERE well happy its now all on. I also bought a DAS-6 (well worth the money great kit) the initial aim was to finish off my front bumper that I had sprayed myself, The lacquer had quite a bit of orange peal and had a matt like Finnish then I will be going over the the rest of the car repairing scratches and generally giving the paint a good going over.

So I went wet sanded the bumper using 2000 grit paper then set to work with the das6 and I was really pleased with the Finnish, the pictures arnt grate as the light was getting poor

t

I did also start going over some scratches on the rear of the car by wetsanding with the 2000 grit then going over with the da and they had vanished leaving a silky smooth deap gloss finish, I am waiting on some more colour match paint then i need to repair a couple of dings iv got and will da the whole car

Wheels!

A mate of mine was scraping a bora with some RS6 wheels on, I said I would have then off him but didn't realise how badly curbed they where so now having to refurb them

After sanding the face defects:

Here's after filling in the curb damage:

How thy look now after laying down the filler primer:

Hopefully get the colour on them tomorrow really looking forward to having them on! I have missed my old RS6 wheels.

Colour & lacquer went on today, later tonight I'll be running them down with 2000 grit wet and dry and going over with the da buffer.

In the sun the colour really "pops" you can really see all the matrix glitter really please with how they have came out

got the tyres on and fitted the wheels this morning, really pleased with how they turned out other than needing to flatten and polish the lacquer

so the remaining to do list in the very near future is to finish off the body work, I have already filled a primed a dent on the N/S/F wing got a couple of others to do and locate a Cupra r rear bumper & side skirts, colour code the rub strips.

Then it will be on to stage 2 or a custom map iv got to get a cobra exhaust then I'm set, I'm torn between a custom map and Revo stage 2 purely because of cost. I have already had my car Revo stage 1 done so to go stage 2 would only cost me £50 where as a custom map I'm not sure what will cost. My local mapper is Clive Atthowe has any one had a custom map done their? service was top notch for my Revo so cant see a custom map being a problem.

really happy now and she runs better than ever.

Well I spoke that up didn't I

about a week after completing various bits and pieces the car has now decide to smoke and use some oil :ban:

its looking like its valve stem seals so next month i am gonna rip the head off and get it sent away and have valve guides and seals replaced, i could just do the stem seals my self with the head on but seeing various people from vortex and here having to replace valve guides i thought i had best get them done at the same time.

bye bye 80mm tip money and bye bye custom stage 2 remap money [:@]

So I sold the Leon back in March I think it was after the gearbox mount snapped and as the month previous I had changed jobs and was no longer a mechanic and was staying away in Scotland during the week I just didn't have time to sort her out :-(

And in May I bought an ST instead:

when I picked her up:

How she stands now but muddy!!

Just had the wheels refurbd with new Bridgestone tyres all round, fog light inserts colour coded with the outer trims matching the new wheel colour and a scuff that was on the rear bumper that the previous edit owner had done repaired.

On to the engine upgrades now :)

Also another project on the go:

My mates mk2 golf GTI is being fully resprayed and at the same time we're doing a 2.0l bottom end conversion keeping his 1.8 head
