140cr TDI Remap- Manchester area

Can anybody recommend any places to get my car remapped? Looking for around 180bhp and in the manchester area?

Looked into dpf removals, dont fancy it...

Anybody got a graph of a 185ish bhp fr tdi?

You should see more than 180bhp. Tuning boxes will see 180-185bhp. Most remaps are around 190bhp some are over 200bhp

Over inflated figures really are a selling point to so many people

Real world you can expect 170 to perhaps 180hp at most from a stage 1 map. Revo offer very good software for the CR140.

I agree that comparisons across maps on different rolling roads is pointless

BUT

Look at the CHANGE in numbers being achieved.

Before the remap - most standard 2.0CRTDi motors are pushing 145 / 147bhp
After the remap - many are seeing 190+

Same day - same rolling road - same car other than the remap.

Revo and APR are both well respected for quoting lower HP gains in order to provide a much flatter ( and more useable ) torque curve in their diesel remaps.

Completely agree that peak hp on a diesel is pointless and does not make for a quick car.

BUT - remapping is generally a trade off - some like to quote peak hp numbers at the expanse of a flat torque curve - others prefer to work on the most drivable torque curve even if that means quoting a lower peak hp.

I can post my Dyno sheet. My car was not done on a rolling road it was done on a dynamometer which is much more accurate. They remove your wheels and measure the power directly. Most people forget the power required to move the rollers. If you have bigger rims or cheap tyres vs good tyres. All these things will throw out different readings. every Ibiza 2.0 tdi that has been measured on a Dyno comes out at 148bhp minimum and never above 150bhp. If the old pd tdi's can make 170 from 130bhp why is it so hard to believe the new ones will make more than that?

Done properly - a rolling road setup will take in to account all of this.

When setting up a rolling road - the rollers should drive the car for a short while so that the tyres/gearbox etc are cancelled out in the power readings.

A Dyno sheet is worthless other than for comparing back to back gains post remap, of which i would expect around 30-40hp at most

You are talking about a hub dyno, all rolling roads are Dynos, which is short for Dynamometer.

Hub dynos not much more accurate at all if both are used correctly, again more sales pitch talk

Why does the model of car matter? I'm taking about the CR140 engine, it has nothing to do with it being in an Ibiza

The PD is totally different and the gains that can be made from the various models can not be compared in any way, shape or form.

Most decent or reputable tuners websites i've looked at quote 170-180hp, with one showing up to 185. None have mentioned 190+ or 200hp.

As i said above, peak numbers are meaningless, do not make a quick car and are for nothing other than a sales pitch, which obviously works well fro mthe responses in this thread, or pub bragging rights

The company that produces the hub dyno is branded as dynamometer. The engine does not matter as much as seats being consistently 4-5bhp higher than the same engines in vw which are almost always 1-2bhp more than the advertised power. But again that oils be down to anything and post mapping would disappear.
And it I agree they are not much more accurate if the rolling road is being maintained and operated properly but they remove some (not all) of the variables. If my results show a 48bhp gain from remap and egr delete. Is the hub dyno wrong? Or is this more trickery on the part of the operator? Or is the stock bhp of 148 wrong? If it is the later then with the gains mentioned the car still has a peak output of 191bhp. I don't know about REAL WORLD power but surely it's not gonna 15 to 20bhp out. And if that is what you are claiming does that mean the car in your signature has a real world peak power of 250 or maybe 265bhp?

It doesn't really matter whether the car is actually fast or not the peak power is all I was originally commenting on. 200bhp is probably pushing the envelope but 170bhp is a bit lousy that's a 27bhp gain

I cant even be bothered to read through all that, the bit about Seats producing more on the dyno than VWs made me chuckle though.

FYI try having a look online at how easily and frequently Dynos are manipulated then you may understand why i dont believe for a second that your CR140 is producing 196hp from just a remap and an EGR delete. Put it on a reputed Dyno and see if you get anywhere near that figure.

My figures are of no consequence to me, they were part of a RR day organised on SCN, Not part of a company's ploy to take my money

Revo and p-torque have a good reputation on this forum though I don't have any experience with either myself.

Might want to check with know it all ^^^^^^ here to make sure whoever you go with is 'reputable' first

Im going to take it to a guy who did my dads bmw, he is in chorley... No reviews on him but his car has been fine so i trust him....

Any chance that would be Clarksons Garage ? - seen some very impressive cars on their 600hp 4 wheel drive rolling road.
