Expected Delivery?

Rubbish.

I gave in and called Seat CS to see if I could get a better location on my car than 'somewhere between here and Spain' that the dealer was giving me. Wish I hadn't now.

Apparently the car was built as planned week 31 (which I already knew) and is now sat in the port at Barcelona waiting to be shipped to the UK. But because the Seat factory closes for August they can't tell me when, exactly, it will get shipped. It might be soon, in which case I'll likely have it for the early September pickup date I agreed, or it might not be until the end of August in which case it won't be until mid September :(

So now there's one more thing to worry about :(

I emailed Seat CS on Saturday about my car, same as you sat at the port in Barcelona. Got an update from them today and they say it will be on the ship for the UK on the 16th August so your car should leave on the same day? They didn't give me a ship name but said they'll email me when it leaves to let me know which one.

Hope this has helped.

Anyone else make an order around June and get a 'parts' excuse for a October expected delivery?

I ordered mine from allcarleasing who go through a York dealer, and expected delivery was initially September and im now being told October.

I ordered the last week in June and was told a build week of the 1st of September (not sure what week as I'm not near a calendar) but it was built end of July just missing the factory shut down and is waiting to be shipped on the 16th.

Must be something to do with the options specified.

It's certainly given me hope that the early September delivery is achievable :)

For reference my order was placed on June 3rd and the car was built w/c 28th of July (Week 31).

I was told build week 31 which he said was 21st July start.
I had a phone call saying car was at the dealer if I wanted to go and take a look and sit in her :) scribbled on the side was built 18th July...which would have been the end of build week 30... And the fact it's already here is a good sign for the rest of you being given oct/nov. :)

My car came in to the dealer today and my dealer said I could pick it up next thursday, how long do you have to wait til you can pick it up from the dealer in the UK ? (I live in Sweden and Im curious, thinks one week at the dealer is a loong time)

Emailed my broker today, was given the choice of last week in August or first week in September for delivery to my door. I won't be around the last week in August so the first week in September it is. So ordered on the 31st May, could have had it the last week in August, around twelve weeks, that's for a 1.4 FR.

You lucky guys.. I have ordered mine on beginning of July and will get the car on October-November :/

About the same as me them, order went through on the 31st May, I get it first week in September, three months.

The Leon will have taken longer than my last two cars, a SAAB 9.3 Aero and a Lexus IS220. The only one that has taken longer and not by much, was a BMW320d tourer back in 2000, and that took 15 weeks. Thinking back though, the Lexus was quicker as the model and spec I wanted was already on a ship and on its way, but I had to go with a different colour. The SAAB was eight weeks.

Whatever. it's STILL a bloody long wait!

See I've always bought a car when it's been six months to a year old, so this is my first brand new car!

So I've never had to wait this long before I get behind the wheel!

In sure it will be worth the wait

I told myself after the last three and the problems I have had with ALL of them that I would never buy another new car until I retired, and possibly not even then. Then I'd buy one to last me till I am put in a wooden box or burnt. Maybe the problem was they were all new models and had not had the production and design issues sorted out.

However, this time I decided not to BUY a new one but to lease a new one, depreciation and other issues are then not my problem. For me it's a better option.

Atleast you retire soon, got my pension forecast letter today and I retire in March 2044!

I've been driving and working since I was 18 and currently 25 and been fortunate to have a car every 12 to 18 months! However I've decided to keep a car for three years! Hence why I've also got the car on lease!

I've seen quite a few threads on issues with new build cars but I guess the warranty will cover most issues! Just don't like the idea being at a dealers for weeks on end!

:) I don't retire that soon! At least another ten years. Anyway, the way my pension pot is going I may never be able to retire!:(
