How many miles has your car done? I might be wrong but in my opinion after watching that vid it sounds like your turbo bearing may be worn :-( I would get it checked m8

Story of my life finally get something half decent and it turns out to be a piece of ****.

Hate to say it but I'm now in agreement. That doesn't sound right to me. May be time to go hybrid?

Wow ! The forum's alleged expert has lowered himself to post a sympathic, relevant and meaningful comment on one of my posts.

Get a recon turbo. Least you know it wont let you down again mate. Cars are a lottery bud. You either fix it or ditch it, spending 5k on it then scrapping it seems a bit silly. So stick with it. I think of my lcr as a women. Pain in the ass most of the time but when it behaves it give me a enjoyable ride lol.

I have the same set up as you mate and mine doesn't sound like that. Not what you wanted to hear but worth getting it looked at.

have you not tried putting the standard airbox back on to see how it sounds ? why your doing it see how much play is in the turbine shaft.

maybe, just maybe it made the sound before but you didn't hear it as the std airbox silences the intake.
OR you didn't drop a clip done the tip by accident did you and thats now being munched by the compressor wheel?

just reposting the unhelpful post...
as a reminder of how unhelpful it was - NOT.. (believe it or not, folks HAVE done this to their cars accidentally)

Remind me to not bother trying to help anyone one here if your sarchasm response is the result

Before I walk out the door/get pushed out the door I would just like to add the following comment.

My response was NOT to Bill's initial post "Maybe it was always making the noise/dropping something down the TIP" but to the 2nd posting about "There's an Over reaction"

As I said to Bill in a pm I'm not going to go into the history of it all , no one cares and why should you.

But I just want to make it clear it was NOT to the original post made by Bill, by and large the advice received from folks on here has been gratefully received and appreciated irrespective of who has posted it.

So if you see a clapped old LCR smoking and screaming down the A12 or a burnt out shell on a Southend trading estate you will know who it was.

Repair it mate. Bills comment was a observation to your comment. Most people wont scrap there car just because the turbo MAYBE on the way out. These are high performance cars which will cost you loads. I have spent nearly 4000 on mine and it is nothing special. All part of the fun I guess.

Hey, I've spent more than twice what I paid for the car on mine in 18 months. At least I now can't afford to go drinking if I wanted to

New turbos or reconned ain't as expensive as your thinking mate. It may not even be that yet, its hard to diagnose from that clip, its just an educated guess.

I would do as stated before, go back to standard air box and see if you have the same sound.

Personally I don't think its the bearing as you would have heard this before the filter change, and changing the filter wouldn't damage the turbo, unless stated earlier in the thread.
