Looks like Cupra R ownership may be coming to an end
Following a test drive of a Mk 3 Cupra am seriously considering changing, just trawling through to get the right figures now.... then me and t'GF will be getting our heads together..
current R has done 30 k over two years and other than tyres has only had two faults , mouldy bonnet lining ( sorted under warranty but mouldy again, surprise surprise) and the external temp probe went haywire ( again, sorted under warranty) It's been a real blast to drive, a lot more raw than previous FR, we've had some great times in it , and solo I've done the Evo loop a few times , plus a lot of the other roads in Wales
scared myself silly more than once but still great fun. North Yorkshire roads also , particularly up to Whitby
Downsides ? a voracious appetite for super unleaded ( although not too bad as a daily driver) the poxy soundthingy which was disconnected, sooo much better now! Tyres v potholes, guess which won?
various creaks and rattles ( you get used to it) Stereo's not the best - or rather sound isn't, steering kick when hoofing it, knobheads who just want to race you and will try anything to get past, thats about it really.
plus points - well, 265 for a start
the grin I get on a winding road , the noise it makes, particularly with the back seats down, ( pity it looks like I won't get to fit a cat back bah) the looks of terror on my GF's face... the laugh I get when people can't find the rear door handles, the looks it gets ( why, WHY , WHY are they not doing speed blue in the mk 3!!) and many, many more.
Looking at a mk 3 Cupra 280 , manual, media , spare and leather at the moment, in Emocion Red.
