As i said my Megane never done this and that had almost the same power and a lsd as it was a cup chassis. I done lots of track days and never had a problem. Wonder if any of the other Vag forums mention it at all, and likt MBK72 points out lots of mags have tested or run them, , maybe im being to fussy.

True, there is still nothing to match the Renaultsport front end. If I'd just wanted a(nother) track toy I'd have bought a 275 Trophy or an R if I could have got hold of one. But for everyday, in traffic, with comfy ride and dsg the Cupra wins. The fact the Cupra can also play hot hatch hooligan when the moment comes is its big appeal to me. Horses for courses and all that. This bit of either poor damping, wheel spin or whatever it is doesn't spoil the experience for me, I just look at it as the character of the car - every car has one. Just a few personality quirks I've experienced A45 AMG way too stiffly sprung, M135i somewhere between tricky and just dangerous in the wet, RS Megane too hardcore for everyday/family journeys, FN2 CTR no torque and too rev happy.

I tried the FN2 years back (before buying a Renaultsport Clio instead, funnily enough) and hated it. I had to give it a bootful of revs every time I pulled away or it bogged down/stalled, the chassis tramlined like nothing else I've ever driven and the ignition barrel + start button combo was infuriatingly pointless. Put key in, turn key, move hand, press button!

Golfs do it, too. That's why the Whiteline ALK is almost required by law on VW forums!

All fair points on the FN2 but my missus loves hers all the same - someone has to! They are ok once wound up, can still be quite good fun and the later ones with the LSD are better but it's all too much like hard work. They never go wrong though that is one bonus. She's set on the new CTR so it will be interesting comparing that with the Cupra.

That new one looks absolutely awful. The rear wheel arch seems to be smaller than the front one, which just looks really odd! As for that ridiculous Scooby STi spoiler they've stuck on the boot...

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that! It will certainly be interesting to see one in the metal rather than pictures. The missus loves the look of the new Type R and it's her choice so I'm not arguing.

Whiteline ALK? and this is?

ALK stands for anti lift kit. The Whiteline kit for the earlier Golf, Leon etc basically changes the caster angle slightly to help reduce wheel hop. SuperPro make bushes for the same cars that do the same thing, but I don't think either will fit the MQB cars. I'm hoping the latter company have something suitable, as they have already produced various bushes and updated ARBs for this chassis. They also make an alloy lower suspension arm for the front that has modified caster built in. Not cheap though!

I had this fitted to Mk2 Cupra and it was better. When stage 1 I only really got wheel spin, not so much wheel hop. First time I experienced wheel hop/tramp/banging was in my first Clio 182 when I floored it in the wet. Horrible sound.
