6 months in - I'm not that impressed with my leon...

I bought my Seat Leon SC SE (1.4) on finance in September and I'm almost 6 months through the 3 year agreement.

It's my first brand new car, and if I am honest I am not that impressed.

• Twice it has just turned off as I have come to a stop
• Once the start stop has activated and it hasn't turned on again
• It gets stuck going into reverse (will only go into gear if I release the clutch a bit)
• Water runs in the boot when it's been raining and I open the boot
• Water drips in the car if you open the windows when it's been raining
• It takes forever to clear ice from the front window
• It's almost impossible to make a smooth gear change into 1st
• You can't switch between saved radio stations from the steering wheel (or I don't know how to)
• The material used around the central screen and the window open/close buttons make it look like someone has eaten a McDonalds then pressed all the buttons.

OK, so the first two things have only happened once or twice but that's the not point. If it's happened once - when will it happen again is all you can think?
Point three I will mention when it goes in for a service. I'm reluctant to take it to a dealer as i've only heard horror stories of people coming out of the dealers with more problems than when they went in there.

Anyone else feel like this?

Don't mean to sound blunt, but with the exception of the 1st two they are petty issues.
When start stop activates, the engine will not restart if the seat belt has been removed for example. There is a list in the manual. If the car isn't restarting itself then there may be an issue.

For the water running, it's obviously going to go in the window if you put it down, when opening the boot open it about half way 1st and let the water drain then fully open it.

If it takes ages to clear ice, get better deicer.

If say most cars would have the same issues as above.

I know they aren't big issues, but my previous car (a 51 plate) didn't have any of those problems (apart from deicing).

I would expect Seat to have removed tiny things like these. You wouldn't buy a brand new laptop with one key that doesn't work and a few pixels in the screen not working.

Then it goes back to the dealers to fix the genuine problems you've got, pretty simple.

I think i saw today in the setup on the radio you can choose what the buttons do, so to skip between saved stations or scan for the next one, so you prob just need to change the setting.

theres also a left and right arrow key on the left side of the steering wheel that should do the job

My 1.4 Leon warms up very quickly and I'm not surprised when you see the tiny size of the engine block, there is next to no mass to heat up.

Most modern cars are designed to be aerodynamic and fuel efficient now, rain water redirection seems to be less important to designers.

I agree with Chris, most of your points seem to be very trivial, I don't think the Seat is any worse than any of the 3 previous new Audi's I've owned in the past.

You can toggle through the radio station presets with the buttons at the top on the left of the wheel. You can also do it with your finger on the touch screen.
First and reverse issues could be clutch related so perhaps a visit to the dealers is on the cards.
As for deicing, either A. Get some deicing spray B. Scrape it then you and the car will warm up C. Move to somewhere warmer.

Like many other's, I drive for a little before opening my window (that's if I need to open it when its raining )

When my car was iced up this winter, it took approximately 30-60 seconds to clear, I can definitely give away 30-60 seconds of my life to demist my car .

Water drips into the boot on mine too, so I would guess its the design of the rear hatch, used to do the same on my previous car, a Peugeot 308.

I have fitted wind deflectors to side windows, that has made a big difference to the dripping rain water when lowering drivers side window.

Same here in regards to having a poorly designed boot. I do find it very strange that this happens. It is very annoying though, I have found though if I have the parcel shelf pulled out it isn't so bad.

except with the radio they don't scroll through only the stations you've stored, at least with DAB they don't. they scroll through every station. if you've Audio selected on the driver info screen, same again, you have to divert your eyes away from the road to read the list as you scroll through. those left-right arrow buttons are only of use moving backward and forward between media tracks and even then only the tracks on the one album being played. there's no navigation between albums or artists using the steering wheel without touching the screen first.

I think you can change that in the setup on the radio screen to switch between stored stations rather than scan.

How did it clear so quick? I just get in an stick the blowers on. It takes about 5 mins to heat them and another 5 - 10 mins to clear the ice.

Maybe you got a Spanish version.

I have had mine for 17 months and have only used the wipers twice and don't know about ice!

The only thing that comes in when I open the windows is hot air.

That said, I couldn't be more pleased with the car. Runs absolutely faultlessly, no rattles or leaks. Amazing performance for such a small engine. Brilliant handling.

17 months in and only been back to the dealer for a recall on wind noise which I didn't have anyway.
