So, I'm looking at buying a friends MY2004 Cupra TDI in Onvi Yellow (you can never have too many cars), so I was wondering what a fair price would be.

Good bits - Apparently it's been mapped, bushes were redone not that long ago, drilled n grooved discs, air con fitted, interior is in OK condition

Bad bits - The electrics may be toast as water has got in n done its magic (the dash was doing the good ol disco impression according to the owner), the paint needs a bit of tidying, no idea on the condition of the engine as the bonnet won't release and the battery is dead, couple of sill covers missing

Bold, Italic and Underlined.

Not to be sounding like a donkey mate, but if you can't see the engine or at least check it's condition, why in anyone's name would you ever consider buying one?

I'd never personally buy a car where I couldn't see or inspect an engine, especially test running it too! It's like handing you a phone that has a dead battery, how can you call anyone?

In all honesty though, walk away mate in my opinion unless you want to do it up I'd drop the price down right low. What price is your friend asking for?

I'd go more towards the £300 side of that mate, whether or not your mate will accept that I don't know. Ideally you could do with trying to get under the bonnet and get some pictures?

From the sounds of it, you are looking at a very expensive project depending solely on how bad the water has affected the electrics and inside and also how poor the engine is. Fingers crossed you're not on the rock bottom, but I'd advise seeing the engine before buying it mate! :)
