What small modifications have you added to your Leon?

Guys

I really like the idea of the carbon effect on the Media / radio screen.

I have the tech pack with the 5.8 " screen too.

@corfyboy or anyone else, can you advise which options you amended with VCDS to switch that on.

Cheers

Select 5F ( Information Electronics )
Then coding - 07
Then click on "long coding helper"
Go down to byte 17
Un-tick bit 1
Tick bit 2
( some have had to tick and untick different bits but you need to alter the last two digits - from 01 to 10 I think )
Exit
Click "do it"
After it says code accepted - come out of all the controllers
Do a system reset - hold power button in for 30 seconds

You now have carbon background to the media unit.

Cheers Deano, will give it a try in the morning
+ 1 Deano... I don't use vag com I have access to odis vag factory software. And when giving advise to Deano we found if you don't do the reset it will not take affect and revert back, the software I use automatically does the reset for you

Had Nigel from Uckfield come and code 10 changes for me. He's one of the few round this way with a VAG COM which he makes a living from with other car related activities. Would recommend; bit pricey ie £100 for 1.5 hours (£80 call out and the first hour) but he knew what he was doing and still cheaper than me bodging about with a cable.

Here's my list for info

Cornering fog lamps

Check battery condition

Customize consumption display to show fuel to fill

FIS carbon look in on board computer

Rear Wiper Wipe in reverse

Air blower speed

Indicator cycle 3 to 4

Door Mirrors close instantly

Pointer sweep

Ignition active message and bong deleted

but couldn't get the Media Screen to work and did try the reset trick

Hmm, Seems pricey to me also,

Nearly half the price of buying the Vag Com yourself, what about if later you decide that you don't want a feature he's changed and want to revert back to it's original state, would he charge you again ?

Also in the future, someone might "discover" more hidden features that you'd like, at those sort of prices it becomes very expensive, although I do appreciate your point about doing it yourself and the possibility of messing something up.

I'm quite new to the idea of using VAG COM software to changing the settings on the car.

Some of the things that you've mentioned I'd be interested in also, in particular the door mirrors, rear wiper in reverse, pointer sweep. However I'm not sure what a few of the things you've listed actually do. What are the changes for the following:

Indicator cycle 3 to 4
Air blower speed
Customize consumption display to show fuel to fill

I know there is a list somewhere of what some of the settings are to change these things, but I can't find a decent list of what the actual changes are, i.e. what actual affect changing the settings has.

Thanks Deano / Corfyboy

Media Carbon background sorted.

So here goes. My list of small mods on my Leon FR 184.

VW Golf R Chrome Key mod
Fan Washers - Big improvement, missed them from previous car.
Carbon background on FIS instrument.
Carbon background on Media display.
Cornering fogs enabled.
Folding mirrors immediately on locking.
Lap timer.
Needle sweep.

The longer I read threads on here the list will grow and grow :D

When you lane change indicate, it will do 4 flashes instead of 3

When in "auto" mode on the ac, it will show you how fast the fan is blowing

Shows you how much fuel you can get in when you fill up on the display.

Like the sound of the last two. :D

Ok, heard this mentioned a few times around here, what exactly does this do?

I'm interested in a few of the mods, in particular the following:

Dial sweep
Mirrors auto folding
Rear wiper on reverse
Carbon backgrounds
Lap timer
Fuel to fill

No idea about the best way of doing it though. I'll pop over to the VAG Rom thread to see if there is anyone that would be able to do it for me.

fan jets spray a "fan" of water on the windscreen instead of the stupid 3 jet spray pattern. you get a much better coverage of washer fluid on your screen.
