Just got a call from the dealer and after 20 weeks of waiting my car has arrived

Apologies in advance if I missed it somewhere, but are the DSG 1.4 / 1.8 / Cupra Leons the same lead time as their manual counterparts?

Was wondering as on Ibiza and Arona is specifically mentions DSG...

Leon 1.4 TSI 150 Manual and DSG-auto are the same. 1.8 TSI 180 Manual and 2.0 TSI 300 Manual have been temporarily removed from ordering (see here).

The Arona delay is a gearbox issue, not an engine one.

hey, first thanks for this info, second I placed my vanilla Cupra order 29th April, factory should have a build week by now right? Worth giving the dealer a poke? because tbh if my April order (original pick up date Oct 31) starts to be Feb/Mar 2019 I sadly will need to pull it and shop elsewhere.

Unlikely.

Your order was placed in cw18 when the lead time was 24-26 weeks. As build weeks do not confirm until 2-3 weeks before the car is due to be built (which in turn is 2-3 weeks before it arrives in the UK - I'm assuming you're in the UK?) then it can be up to 18-20 weeks before a build week confirms.

Getting customers to understand and accept this is the hardest part of waiting for a new car, but it really is that simple. Literally nothing happens for all but the last 6 weeks or so of an order lead time, then everything happens quickly and can be tracked fairly accurately.

Worth giving the dealer a poke?

Most on here seem to struggle with the idea but yes, they are far more likely to be able to give you information relevant to your order than anyone else...

Asked my dealer for my order number, so i could contact Seat CS every month or 2 for a update, and he sent me a copy of my Customer Entry detail. Couple questions... Under order status, it says P - Not yet accepted. whats that mean, accepted by whom? Also further down, it says Handover Committed Date 30/9/2018, whats that mean?

On the plus side its now coming with PUM 18" wheels instead of the PUN 18"

Not accepted by the factory. All orders that won't be built in June/July as NEDC are sitting at this status until WLTP testing has been completed and WLTP production commences after the August factory shut-downs.

Also further down, it says Handover Committed Date 30/9/2018, whats that mean?

This is the date your dealership has entered as the date you (which in reality means they) want the car for. As targets are issued quarterly most dealerships will enter the last day of a quarter for orders that aren't from stock.

In reality, this date is only relevant for forward orders where lead times/existing stock levels mean a car would be able sooner, but the customer doesn't want it until later in the year (forward orders for September when stock is available for June, for example). In times of long lead times this date makes little/no difference to how soon the car is built and delivered.

How is that a plus side? Apart from being more expensive (are they covering the extra cost?) these just add three weeks to the lead time...

I though lead times were concurrent? When i ordered the car, the 180 DSG had an additional lead time of +14 weeks. Also its a motability car, so shouldnt be any extra cost.

I know this is an VW Issue but as the engines come from VW (My assumption) does this closure impact the rest of the group's deliveries

The only cost you'll pay is what ever the advanced payment is.

In Q1 (and early Q2 before it was pulled from ordering) the 'free' upgrade wheel on Leon SC was PUM, whereas on 5dr and ST it was PUN. If you haven't ordered an SC your dealership will be picking up the bill for the difference in price.

Yeah its the 5dr we ordered. On the order form under Order characteristics theres a options box which says PUM (18" Performance Alloy wheels) and PZ1 (European nav data)

I know it's already affected the CUPRA 300 manual and others.

According to SEATS website though nothing has been affected permanently. So hopefully the manual may come back.

No. At present no changes to the model portfolio are planned. Individual models and their engines will be developed in order to achieve even higher efficiency and reduce emissions as per the regulations. However, models will not be discontinued as a result of WLTP."

I'm assuming the discontinuation of the SC was down to another reason then and WLTP was just a coincidence?

Having checked your order reference xxxxxxxx on our database, I can advise your vehicle was accepted by the factory on 10 May 2018. The lead time will therefore begin 20 weeks from that date.

I think you've made it a lot more confusing then it needs to be..!?!?

10th May is cw19 (my post about cw19 in this thread will give you the leads times relevant to your order) so if it is 20 weeks from cw19 the car should arrive towards the end of September.
