So, one year into ownership. Good car, certainly quick but I do have a few things I'm not so sure about so would be grateful for some comments -
1. Terrible flat spot in normal mode - 30-40mph around town, 6th gear and RPM at 1500-1800rpm. Any thoughts? If I go into sport mode the RPM is of course higher but Sport isn't really needed around town driving. Is this usual? Car is on a long life service interval so nothing needed till March 2020!
2. Absolutely no pops and bangs when driving - using Tesco Momentum. Nothing in Normal, or Sport or Cupra modes.
3. 9000 miles in and the exhaust is a lot more throaty in the cabin, but not outside.
4. DSG box holds on to revs far far too long - I guess a DSG chip is the only option but car is on PCP so unwilling to do any mods. Only way to get the revs changing is to go manual with the paddles, but then that defeats the purpose of DSG when in town traffic.
5. Fuel economy averaging 28-34mpg on daily drive to work - town and about 20 miles down A1M.
6. Hands free for phone - such a shame there isn't a connect/disconnect button/function on steering wheel. If you have the sport gauges up, and phone rings the answer/reject etc option comes up, but once you have answered and the call ends you need to go into the infotainment system, select telephone and hang up. Big oversight not to have a bespoke phone control button on the steering wheel - so useful on my Focus RS, miss it on the Cupra!
7. Is there an option to get text messages read out on the infotainment system? Haven't figured out if there is. Mine is the standard one, not the High version.
I like the subtle looks of the car and the performance it has when you floor it - surprises plenty of cars.
3 years left on PCP, unsure if I'll keep it but then not sure what there will be at the time to swap it for -- maybe a Cupra Ateca, or if released the 20V20 model (or what ever it will be called). What ever happens I will want high performance, 4wd and likely a DSG box. The commute to work is a bugger in a manual - an autobox is so much more relaxing for sure.
Cheers
