Just got to cut the diffuser.

First impression it sounds a lot more refined and defo louder than stock, however, not louder than the original res delete I had. Tbf it will need bedding in a bit as it’s from a water damaged golf r estate. Just need to go for a drive now see whether I get dsg upshifts.

Couple of pics for reference.

It appears the resonators are the same.

Videos to follow shortly.

Interesting.
Something I'd be interested to do on my pre-fl 290

Me too, however I’d expect the exhaust to differ for the fwd and 4wd Cupra/golf r. Does anyone know which bits would be the same? For example the back boxes...

Nice work. Looks like the body work behind the bumper has clearance for the twin pipes too. Are you thinking of deleting the resonator to get more volume?

So yes this was the 4 drive version however I should think from the t piece backwards it should be the same. Now I asked Ross @ RPS what the part numbers are for just the twin exit back boxes, which are

5G9253609BB - £212.06 inc VAT
5G9253609BC - £212.06

I think the price is bloody good, close to the miltek cat back price. However I like keeping things OEM.

That’s the MQB Chassis for you, they are the same between the golf r estate and the Cupra st. It is strange how it’s offset though. Been out driving it the last few days, and WOW the dsg pops are so loud. Not much overrun noise. Can’t have it all though.... they are drony at idle more than stock. So I can see why @Damoh removed his res delete. The drone would be stupid.

Too bloody right can’t agree more.

They should’ve come fitted with the side skirts, quad exhaust and front splitter, this would’ve given them the more aggressive look over the FR.

Diffuser after cutting, not brilliant ended up cutting it to work out I could heat it up and bend the plastic to match the old style.

Looks really good.
When my warranty ends I might look at doing similar on my 5dr. Might even look at getting it wired up to open and close the valves like the golf does in separate driving modes

Good effort with the splitter, when fitted the mod looks like factory spec. I shall be scouring gumtree and eBay looking for as 2nd hand system at a good price.

Im absolutely loving this mod, drove behind my car today to hear the sound, and when the girl gave it some beans it sounds awesome, especially the DSG farts.

The golf R/4drive exhaust will fit a FWD. it just doesn’t take as direct route as the none 4drive.

The resonator is further back (and a different shape) as the FWD doesn’t have a prop shaft in the way. The hole underneath where the resonator sits is still there. On my 280 ST, the BCS/Powervalve exhaust had it’s only back box where the 4drive resonator sits.

Just checked eBay and there are loads of R exhaust systems fairly cheap.
Looks miles different to the 5dr hatch exhaust though
