Well spotted!! But it still internally is more straight through rather than redirected through baffles presumably because there is a center silencer on the 7 estate I wonder if my 7.5 rear boxes revert back to the cupra style due to being the only silencers in the system only one way to find out I guess
Not quite.

There are 3 versions of the Golf R exhaust...

1) Pre Facelift Golf R Estate 300 PS - Resonator, plus 2 back boxes, Single exit - fake tips - Same system as the Cupra 300 4Drive (NONE GPF). Both are very quiet as seen on these forums and the Golf R forums comparing it with option2 below.

2) Facelift Golf R Estate 310 PS - Resonator, plus 2 back boxes, twin Exit - Real tips - Same system as mine on the Carbon Edition. This is Louder than the Cupra 300 4Drive and my old 280ST.

3) Facelift Golf R Estate 300 PS GPF - No Resonator, 2 back boxes, twin exit - Real tips - Same system as the Cupra R ST. This again is louder than the GPF 300 4Drive.

So if you have option 3, then the removal of the resonator was likely to combat some of the noise lost with the GPFs. If memory serves, the replacement back boxes (for crash repair) have the same part numbers between the full GPF system and none GPF systems. So chances are there is likely still sound deadening and more direct route to be had on the internals.

Or just buy yourself the Remus system sold for the Cupra R ST.

Very informative thank you!! I have option 3 I got a mid section back from a gpf 7.5 estate so basically I just need to butcher the boxes open and investigate and see what I can do I would go for an expensive system for obvious reasons however none I've seen really seem any different to my current setup which deepens the tone can only just hear overun pops and dsg farts are basically non existent thanks again!!
