Mines booked in for a software upgrade this Thursday. It's on 1803 at the moment. When I booked it in the technician suggested that 'something more' than 1804 may be available. Fingers crossed.

Where are you based, and which dealer is it booked in with?

I was in the dealership today and I asked about a “cure all” update. The service manager claimed there’s nothing imminent. The infotainment system ruins a perfectly good car. At least it brightens up each day wondering what it’s going to do next, or not do!

So, took mine Formentor in for a software upgrade. Two issues, the infotainment screen has frozen on a couple of occasions and the car reads road signs wrong (like everyone else in the UK). When I spoke to the Technician he thought 1810 might be available but 1804 is available.

Anyway Cupra had the car for a day and when I picked it up they said that they had upgraded the screen software but not the OS. So I'm still on 1803. I queried why and they say that VW have told dealers NOT to carry out upgrades to 1804 as it does not fix anything and advise customers to wait for 1810. My copy of the invoice says as much. He want able to advise when 1810 will be available. Frustrating but not totally unexpected.

Is there any news about 1810 or newer. I have now 1803 and it was promised to fix Navi bugs(forgets preprogrammed addresses on every boot). But re updating did not fix anything.

No news - asked my dealer this week and they STILL don't have a TPI.

My hope is something will come during Q1.

....I would be very happy with even a buggy 18xx firmware - you have no clue how much is lacking on 16xx systems...
I can imagine. It sounds that manufacturer is not interested in customers only their money.

Some good news looks like the 1810/1890 update will be available shortly! I think a TPI needs to be raised before dealers will update

I know it's early doors,

But does anyone know the difference between 1810 & 1890?

I'll potentially be picking up a VZ Edition with the earlier H/w so presumably be limited to 1810. Curious if I'm missing out of anything.

The general information is the system will be more responsive and many of the software issues we have suffered will be rectified.

Thanks. And earlier units get Wireless Andriod Auto? That's my main concern.

What will the newer H/w units get with 1890 that the earlier with 1810 won't get?

From what I know 17xx/18xx will be able to upgrade to 1890 when released to dealers. 16xx will initially have to upgrade to 1810, then my understanding it can then be upgraded to 1890. So then all Formentors will be running on the same software, which is much better for future updates. I'm not 100% sure on wireless AA, I think it should come with the infotainment update. Someone else maybe able to clarify this :) Looks like a lot of it is general software optimisation, to speed up the infotainment screen and fix the majority of issues people are reporting. As well as a few UI updates, but looks like nothing major. There is also news that new quad core Samsung chips with four times graphics performance will rolling throughout the VAG at some point, but not sure when that happening. Someone on the MK8 Golf forum posted a screenshot of a German car having H58 hardware code up from the current H56
