So, I've recently picked up my 310 hp version of the Formentor, and while I really enjoy the occasional pop from the exhaust I am not a fan of the fake engine sound in the cabin.

As far as I can tell, the exhaust pops only when in sport or Cupra mode, but both of these settings come with the artificial noise as well. There is a "pure" setting in individual mode, and I thought that would be what I am looking for, but I it seems to be identical to comfort mode.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

Unplug the sound actor. It's very simple, 2 minute job. The car is much better with the fake sound off.

I am on holiday now, but watched a video on YouTube where they mentioned a setting (and showed) for "Pure" sound, using individual settings - it disabled the fake sound but let pops and bangs, plus open flap.
I suspect they put the car onto Sport sound settings (instead of Cupra). However this does not disable sound actor fully, it just makes it less loud but it is still there. If you put the car onto Comfort sound you lose the pops and bangs. Only solution that I know of is coding it out or unplugging it.

Maybe they made some changes in more recent builds of the car but I'd be surprised.

Literally there was a exhaust setting named "Pure"

So, Comfort, Sport, Cupra and a new setting "Pure"

Its the youtube video from Schmuseum (Schmee)

Goto 18mins 30s for the start of the Formentor review

22:20 for the 'Pure' reference
Maybe they added it in a new update (they have CLIMA written in the infotainment, so it's the newest update) Does anyone have it and can check?

It definitely was not there on my car.

Maybe a VZ3 setting? Not on my VZ2
VZ2/VZ3 is UK specific nomenclature. In continental Europe we do not get them. My car for example is a Veloz (VZ), 310 hp, with the rims that usually in UK come on a VZ3 (those with many spokes). Never saw this Pure option mentioned before.

This Pure option may have been added on in an upgrade. If so, really good job by Cupra, they recognize that some people do not want it and they added it.

Well as an update, I tried 'pure' sound mode in individual yesterday and it seems to effectively just turn off the soundaktor but unfortunately I couldn't get it to pop or bang. As soon as I switched it back to the usual sport engine sound the pops were back.

So as far as I can see based on my experience, it looks like if you want pops and bangs but no fake noise it's either coding it out or unplugging the speaker.

Here is how I do it: deactivated the soundaktor via Obdeleven, then set the exhaust in individual settings to CUPRA. Now you have zero noise from the sound system but pops and bangs at the same time. There is one caveat, you will need to put in CUPRA and then in Individual every time you start the car - for some reason the claps stay closed unless you put it in CUPRA mode first. But once you do that, they stay open while you are in Individual.

I had a Leon Cupra and trust me the exhaust pops and bangs get louder over time. You need a few thousand miles on them before they really start to pop. By the time i gave it back, with 18k on it, it was quite loud, but it took until about 5k to really do it regularly.
