Just heard back from the breakers, here's the details of the donor vehicle that I requested earlier

OK here are the comparisons:
Original 42 drivers: 00100220C002020000001000 (original controllers, non powered mirrors)
New 42 drivers: 001402205001020000001000 (new controllers, powered mirrors)

Original 52 passenger: 00100020CE01020000001000 (original controllers, non powered mirrors)
New 52 passenger: 001400205E01020000001000 (new controllers, powered mirrors)

Hope someone can marry these up to what the individual bits and bytes mean

The only difference is the door exit light.

I'm not sure exit light refers to the puddle lighting or the sill plate lighting but your controllers think they have exit lights but they don't.

In a perfect automotive world, any possible fault that's related to those exit lights would have been expected to be described as such, but I know from past experience that the fault messages can be misleading. So there's a slight chance that controller is trying to send a signal to a non-existent circuit and that causes an open-circuit failure, with a possibly irrelevant description. If it was me, I would have changed the value of that byte from 14 to 10 and see what happens, I see no harm in that.

OK, done as suggested, anc the coding has been changed in byte 1 from 14 to 10 for both modules 42 and 52, sadly the error is still thrown up whenever the mirrors unfold. All OK when the mirrors fold in, literally only when the mirrors fold out is when the error is logged, but again the error is always listed as Intermittent -Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear
(I *think* the exit light refers to sill plate lighting, any puddle lights are referred to as "field lights")

Sorry that it didn't help.
You are correct about the exit light, I checked the PR list of the donor car using the VIN you shared, and it has "VT2 - Scuff plates in door apertures (illuminated)"

Remove the mirror cap on the driver's side, pull the cable up a bit and test it again

Thanks, I'll try that later when I get 5 mins spare - it seems to be becoming more and more obvious it's not a coding issue as such, more a physical thing, on the mirror movement itself - since my last post, I switched off the function in the infotainment screen, and have locked and unlocked the car several times, and without the mirrors folding, the error has not returned. As soon as the fold function is re-enabled, the error is there on the first unfold movement


UPDATE: checked cables, nothing tght, error still there after giving cables a bit more length in the mirror housing. Looks like I'll just have to live with the error code. Thanks again
