Just heard back from the breakers, here's the details of the donor vehicle that I requested earlier

OK here are the comparisons:
Original 42 drivers: 00100220C002020000001000 (original controllers, non powered mirrors)
New 42 drivers: 001402205001020000001000 (new controllers, powered mirrors)

Original 52 passenger: 00100020CE01020000001000 (original controllers, non powered mirrors)
New 52 passenger: 001400205E01020000001000 (new controllers, powered mirrors)

Hope someone can marry these up to what the individual bits and bytes mean

Thanks

sync mirror adjustment is irrelevant.
foldable mirrors change is expected.

The only difference is the door exit light.

I'm not sure exit light refers to the puddle lighting or the sill plate lighting but your controllers think they have exit lights but they don't.

In a perfect automotive world, any possible fault that's related to those exit lights would have been expected to be described as such, but I know from past experience that the fault messages can be misleading. So there's a slight chance that controller is trying to send a signal to a non-existent circuit and that causes an open-circuit failure, with a possibly irrelevant description. If it was me, I would have changed the value of that byte from 14 to 10 and see what happens, I see no harm in that.

OK, done as suggested, anc the coding has been changed in byte 1 from 14 to 10 for both modules 42 and 52, sadly the error is still thrown up whenever the mirrors unfold. All OK when the mirrors fold in, literally only when the mirrors fold out is when the error is logged, but again the error is always listed as Intermittent -Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear
(I *think* the exit light refers to sill plate lighting, any puddle lights are referred to as "field lights")

Thanks

Sorry that it didn't help.
You are correct about the exit light, I checked the PR list of the donor car using the VIN you shared, and it has "VT2 - Scuff plates in door apertures (illuminated)"

Thanks, I'll try that later when I get 5 mins spare - it seems to be becoming more and more obvious it's not a coding issue as such, more a physical thing, on the mirror movement itself - since my last post, I switched off the function in the infotainment screen, and have locked and unlocked the car several times, and without the mirrors folding, the error has not returned. As soon as the fold function is re-enabled, the error is there on the first unfold movement

UPDATE: checked cables, nothing tght, error still there after giving cables a bit more length in the mirror housing. Looks like I'll just have to live with the error code. Thanks again

Quick question on coding please

I recently fully retrofitted power fold mirrors to my 2019 Leon ST with power mirrors and door controllers sourced from the same 2019 donor vehicle.

Everything works absolutely fine, with the mirrors folding and unfolding without issue on both the mirror control switch and when locking/unlocking the car with the keyfob.

However, a recurrent fault keeps cropping up on VCDS - Drivers door module 42, 196726 Motor for mirror fold in - open circuit - intermittent

If the mirrors are folded with the switch and a new autoscan is done, no fault is thrown up, but it's when the mirrors are UNFOLDED with either the switch or by unlocking the car that the fault shows immediately and every time.

I've searched and searched on VAG forums and on Ross Tech's website, and can't find anything other than it seems many folk having done this retrofit find the same issue on VCDS autoscans.

Screenshot of the fault attached

As said, everything is working fine, but my OCD is in overdrive! Really want to resolve this if I can.

Many thanks
Hi bud, sorry i know it was a while back...i've been wanting to retrofit power folding mirrors to my 1.6 SE too. Was it plug and play and works via the switch by the window switch only? Then coding for it to work on ignition?

As the post says, they fold with both the replacement 5 position mirror adjustment switch, and when locking/unlocking with the keyfob remote, not with the ignition. Sourcing the mirrors and door controllers from the same donor vehicle means the door controllers are already matched coded for the mirrors.. You may need to switch off any tick boxes in the door controllers for illuminated sill plates that the donor vehicle may have had. These are listed as EXIT LIGHTS. So plug and play if controllers and mirrors come from the same car. Just make sure that in addresses 42 and 52 for door controllers have folding mirror option selected.

There is also coding in module 09 central electronics as follows:

ADAPTATION FOR MIRRORS:
1)SFD UNLOCK (31347)

2) Adaptations
~Search Spiegelverstellung (2390-2399)

3) Confirm Settings as follows
~CP Komfortgedienung Spiegel Anklagen
NOT ACTIVE
~Spiegelanklappen Bei Verriegelung
ACTIVE
~Spiegelabsenkung Bei Rueckwaertfahrt (2397)
ACTIVE
~Menuesteuerung Spiegelabsenkung (2397)
ACTIVE
~Spiegelverstellung Synchron (2399)
NOT ACTIVE
~Menusteuerung synchron Spiegelverstellung (2394)
ACTIVE
~Menuesteuerung Funk Spiegel anklagen
ACTIVE

This will activate the function and add the menu options on the infotainment screen

Note that the function will NOT work if the mirror adjustment switch is not replaced from your current 4 position to the new 5 position switch

Hope this helps
