Speed Limiter - intermittent fault

Does anyone have the same fault?

When I turn on the ignition, and go to set the speed limiter (assist systems > scroll down to speed limiter > OK), about half of the time I get a !LIM message and the limiter doesn't work.

If I turn the ignition off, and back on again, I can usually set the limiter correctly.

Two separate dealers don't have a clue.

Does the vehicle still have a warranty?
Yes, it's less than a year old. It started happening within days of new. I've taken it into the dealers, but it's taken until last week to actually get looked at specifically.

The only thing they said it could be is a reference in the manual, "Troubeshooting... The brakes have overheated. Wait for the brakes to cool down and check the operation again". So they've ordered a new brake sensor.

then I would take the vehicle to the dealer and ask them to rectify the problem

Since when is the brake temperature monitored?

I have the same issue with the cruise control. Had it on both my mk4 Leon’s and the dealer has no idea what the fault is. If I knock the ignition off and back on again cruise control is always available without fail. I get the cruise control symbol in yellow with the exclamation mark rather than LIM.

I've done that. They've scratched their heads, said, "Dunno, mate. Could it be the brake temperature sensor?". Hence asking here if anyone had any experience of the issue or any better ideas.

I've never had it with CC. CC is on by default when I start the ignition and doesn't show any fault. I mean, it's in the same ballpark so I'd imagine it's the same 'glitch'.

The only thing the dealer mentioned was the brake assist sensor at the front. I genuinely got the feeling that VAG didn’t want to go to the expense of replacing it though

How high is the battery voltage during starting?
I don't know. When I took it into the dealer I bought it from (mainly for a different fault), they did say that the voltage was low, but didn't address how this would affect the limiter. It was on the coldest day of the year, so I assumed that this would have lowered the voltage overnight.

The fault can occur after I've driven the car extensively and only just got back in (e.g., stopping for fuel). I also don't start the motor until I know the fault isn't going to occur, so the starter isn't engaged.

I do have a dash cam with a parking mode. Could this be drawing current?
