My personal view is that currently its not worth it. The sales pitch is that as they add new features (like this one) and makes (eg other car brands) they will only be supported by OBD11 3. SFD2 Unlock (if it ever happens) is an unknown but from past experience with OBD11 I would wait and see what they actually deliver.

However Its not clear to me if this feature works on both OBD11 2 & 3 time will tell.

It looks like they got inspiration from CarScanner. It has really good interface for showing important stats on car screen or even configuring multiple screens with different stats (photo borrowed from the Internet).

Well today they released some more information on the Maintenance Reminders process

To be aware it is currently only on IOS and you have to have IOS 17 as a minimum
It only work on the OBD11 App (not the vag one)

Check out for full details.

I don't fell it to be honest. If you will use date as a reminder then it's just glorified calendar. Mileage reminders requires regular car scans because it does not update automatically. That's totally ok, because last thing I want is to have OBD11 constantly plugged in and sending data in background to someones' servers, but it defeats the whole purpose of mileage reminders.

Maybe I am just not the target audience for that feature? 🤷‍♂️

I only share this info so people know about new features.

But I fully agree its a very cheap attempt to provide some more stuff on the new app just like the car buying guide.

And yet there are thousands of bugs out there on the VAG App that still have not been worked on.

Hi mate, Do you think there is any benefit from upgrading from a gen 1, even to a gen 2 in terms of connection, data transfer speeds etc?
My functions/coding on the boc are limited anyway so will not gain anything else other than better connection

Gen one is only for VAG app so as long as that app is live your fine

You need gen 2 to use the new app for BMW Toyota, Ford USA and I found it faster. Gen three will in time support more groups but like you I am keeping my VAG motor so see no benefit to paying more.

But when they close the VAG app (which they have told us they will do) then original dongle will be redundant.

I sold my gen 1 and bought second hand gen2 do see any benefit to gem 3 for me.

That's what I'm thinking of doing as I can see a few people selling on gen2's to upgrade
