Hello everyone,

I have a Seat Ibiza 2010, 5-door, with front electric windows only and rear windows manual (hand crank).

The right front window (passenger side) stopped working, and I was told the window motor needs to be replaced.
After removing the right front passenger door panel, I checked the motor installed in the door and found the part number 6R0 959 812 on it.

However, all parts catalogs list this part number as a rear-right window motor, which is confusing since it’s installed in the right front passenger door.

When searching online for a replacement right front window motor, I can find parts that seem correct, but they have a different part number than the one currently installed in my car, which makes me unsure which one to buy.

My questions are:
  • Is this motor interchangeable between front and rear?
  • Should I replace it with the official right-front (passenger-side) motor, or buy the same part number that is already installed, even though that part number is listed for the rear right door only?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Is your car UK or outside UK?

Does the manufacturer date aligns with the car? Maybe someone already replaced? But I find it odd that it worked though (I once fitted wrong part (UK version) to my passenger door by mistake and it messed everything including the electric side mirrors stopped working)

Part numbers of mine (5 door driver on LHD (Portugal))

2- driver
3 - passenger (the Q was replacement, before it was A)
7 - rear driver (the D was replacement, before no letter)
8 - rear passenger

There must be something different, as they assigned them different part numbers.
If it was me, I would have gone for the official part number, not for the already installed one.
Probably a previous owner replaced the original one with that, thinking it provides basic functionality anyway.

My car is LHD (outside the UK), Seat Ibiza 2010, 5-door, with front electric windows only and rear manual windows. The problem is the right front (passenger) window.

According to the VCDS list you shared, the correct front passenger door module should be 6R0 959 802, while 6R0 959 812 is clearly the rear right door module. That matches what I found online.

Since 6R0 959 812 is physically installed in my front passenger door, it strongly suggests the part was changed at some point.
Thanks for your reply.

I agree, that makes sense. Since they have different part numbers, there must be some difference. I’m also leaning toward buying the front-right part number instead of repeating the already installed rear one. It does seem likely that a previous owner installed it just because it worked, even if it wasn’t the correct part. Thanks for the input.
