Hi all.

Having continued issues with my Seat Leon 2018 2.0tdi.

Garage have diagnosed burning oil as bad piston rings so have taken the engine out, sent the engine off, replaced the charge cooler and rebuilt it.

I've done 500 miles and the car is in limp mode.

My own garage has found diesel in the oil, about a third. They have said it could be an injector issue.

I don't want to keep spending money on it but does anyone have any idea what may be the issue with this engine? Or point in the right direction for someone who knows these engines around the Doncaster area?

Any replies appreciated.

If the car is in Limp mode, there will be some fault code.
Have they scanned it?
Diesel in oil could also be from failed DPF regens, from short trips or blocked DPF.
How often is it performing DPF regens? (engine fan on and rev's elevated to 1000rpm) I recommend getting a cheap bluetooth OBD reader and car scanner pro app - so you can check for yourself.
What your driving routine/usage like?
How much oil was it burning prior to the engine coming out? (example - Litres per 1000miles)

I was about to.suggest the same. I had it in my Skoda Yeti Tdi before I found out about the Android VAG DPF app, which allows you to see the percentage clogged your DPF is, when it's regenning and much more .

Since getting the app (basic version free. Paid for app much better and only costs a few £'s) I can see when the DPF is getting full.and continue my journey by a handful of miles to ensure it has completely finished.

Thanks for the reply.

It was emptying the oil within 800-1000 miles.

From home to work is a 100 mile round trip (4 days per week) mostly motorway miles in all honesty.

Any recommendations for an OBD and App?

It does sound like a DPF issue. Which app is this?

For OBD/App recommendations - see here:

Oh yes, not good oil consumption 1L per 1000 miles. High oil consumption could have damaged the DPF, If you get the OBD and app - then monitor how often it is performing a regen this would help identify your problem.

What's your MPG like?
What's your oil consumption like post engine re-build?
How many miles has the car done?
If you get the OBD and app you can also monitor your injector opening times to see if anything looks wrong with your injectors.

On board computer is saying 50-55mpg. I record my own things you and real work is about 45mpg

I had only done 500 miles in it before the EML came on so unsure of MPG after.

It's done 104k miles now.

I'll get the VAG App and monitor. It may need the DPF unblocking chemically perhaps? Although I've heard it can cause more issues than it resolved?

That's quite a discrepancy in MPG. I find my dash vs recorded MPG fairly close - within 1-2MPG.
Wonder if that could point to a leaking injector?
Will be interesting to see what the fault codes are?

Had the codes read, and they come up with

"Codes show low fuel pressure present, checked live data, checked oil level and too much - level high and diesel in oil. Suspect injectors are faulty and should be tested"

It's gone off to the original garage now so, we'll see
