Well, if the thing is currently speakers are wired to 4 outputs as in the mib2 entry, the only way to make them work on a higher mib2 is to slap a basic entry dataset into a unit which was not physically designed for it to output through 6 separate outputs (considering a + and a - of speaker one output), which in result this prooobably would work, probably, but it wouldn't be the OEM standard if you ask me, I'm sure most of people would prefer a proper job and have their speakers wired as per factory spec.
Let me just say, I am not an audiophile, but, I don't know what kind of a job would this be when your treble speakers are wired together with bass speakers, ain't no way Seat would just make extra wires to wire them just for fun would they!?
You mean the exact same as when the bass and treble speakers are wired together with 9VD? 😂. Funnily enough it's the dataset that facilitates this, but as you say "no genuine dataset would alter the the pinout" aside from the genuine datasets used at the factory.

I did not notice that, never installed 9vd on a Seat. So Is that the dataset you usually upload? Will it not throw open circuit errors for dash and sub speaker and result in having a useless sub dial in the menu?

No, we do not upload 9VD parameters for cars without 9VD :). You need to explore the available datasets and you’ll see which works.

Think about it, you want 4C hannels not 6C hannels.

8RM & 9VD are 6 channels

Once you have the correct dataset his EQ will have 3 bands not multiple frequencies, and all of his speakers will work without changing the wiring

He has 8RL though, if that makes any difference here. What I meant from the start was if you were to move around the MIB2 std between the gen2 mib2 cars with 8RM and 8RL you would not have this problem. Therefore in conclusion, technically the wiring is the only difference presenting the issue that can be resolved through both dataset and rewiring

8RL is 4 channels.. so upload a 4 channel dataset & leave the wiring = problem solved

From memory 8RL is also missing a speaker from each rear door, are you installing those if you’re converting to 8RM?
 
No, not upgrading to 8RM, what do you mean by 4 channel dataset? If you mean 8RL dataset, 8RL on mib2std still so in effect it will still try to output through unoccupied pins?
