The pipes have been removed the valve is still plugged in, its on an Apr map that can be switched via cruise control

you beat my lowest miles between MOT by miles i feel like a infidel now
I'm doing about 1,250-1,500 miles a year at the moment and didn't think anyone was going to better that. When I bought it back in 2008, it was closer 35k...

Nice, i've done 600 miles just this week in mine lolMOT passed today. Done about 500 miles in the car this year - must try to keep the mileage down.
i am around that now, max just over 2.2k, mine was always a second car as the work van had a tracker on it, lowest one year was just over 700 miles so i didn't even change the oil

No mileage worries for me, just everything else 
make sure you remove the washer bottle and clean it out as it gathers scum over years ect have a look inside with a torch once off as you cant see it from outside as there's mold ect build up, i used washing up liquid and hot water, with mold you need to leave it overnight.No water getting on the windshield. No buzzing sound when I press the lever. Guess I'm out to buy a new water pump.
, i bought a febi pump to replace the one i had as it was leaking when i used the washer i even bought a new seal , and it turned out it wasn't the pump just crap in the water system, once bottle is put back in run water though the system , worse case remove the jets to clear out pipes as i have also had that as i got new front jets and it wasn't them it was scum in the system.. read loads of times about the windscreen washer tabs you put in the bottle as they can block everything up

Thanks for the detailed advice - I will sure follow it. Washing the water bottle is a good idea - it is so hidden that I don't have a clue how dirty it is. I also will go with a Febi pump - seems the most reasonable cost/quality.

ive run glass cleaner on a full bottle lolI put a cap full of ezcare glass cleaner in with screenwash

you just don't get a replacement bottle seal but it should be fine as i bought one of them also and the original was fine, once you take the pump out the bottle is only 2 bolts dead easy just watch you don't lose the big rubber ring under the bottle as that suspends it for vibration as it sits on that
, also i had to remove it over winter again as the quick connector come off for the rear washer as that was at the back of it as you cant get at it with bottle in place.. so that's work checking or even wrap the connector part in amalgamating tape or insolating tape or both , as it wont pop off then as that's what i did, its same quick connector used on the rear wash pump that can pop off

update on my LCR the drop at 3k was a naff copy mass sensor that the car did'nt like
not today but wee arse clenching moment the other night, budget rear tyres are terrible lol time for 4 eagle f1s i think.
@ExiledWeegie Omg, I had this exact situation on a wet roundabout and I did spun out. I had some old Michelin Supersports on the rear which were terrible in the wet (I didnt know that at the time). Luckily I hit no one, and no damage to the car. But that humbled me and after that I put on the tyres with the most grip on the rear

@ExiledWeegie nice save their mate, bet that woke you. Wow them tyres had no grip and it looks like you were going nice an steady, when mine give up I think it will be pilot sport 4s lots rate them. Glad all was ok though
