I'm planning to upgrade my 2015 Seat Leon mib1 unit without nav and no usb port in the center storage cubby to mib2 unit mainly to get OEM full link.

I have done some research and know that component protection exists and needs to be disabled somehow. If I understood correctly, there are two different ways to remove it: dealer or somebody else with official volkswagen equipment and server access or by removing it yourself with some toolbox and green engineering menu but this requires a nav unit with two sd cards.

I found a 5F0035877 headunit for a good price from a crashed vehicle but if I understood correctly, this unit doesn't allow removing the CP with the toolbox and GEM. My only option is to remove it officially. Am I correct and should I buy this particular unit or wait for a unit I can remove it myself? How difficult is it and how bad might it go?

What should I do? What is a reasonable price for these headunits? This one is sub 300€.

I have also found a 5F0919606 display and the usb port should be the 5G0035222E which I can get from another crashed vehicle or buy from ebay. I guess I also need the CD removal tools but is there anything else I'd need?

Some good tutorials on youtube etc. would also be appreciated!

If more information is needed, please tell me.

Thank you all for helping! I appreciate it!

Correct, HW 5 Units Hy Seat dont Support ToolBox via SD Card. You have To use QNX

This way is Not for beginners

Alright.

What do you think then: should I buy that one and get the CP removed by someone with official tools or wait for a unit that I handle myself? Is that price reasonable for that specific unit even if I pay someone to unlock it?

Also, if you might decide to get VC in the future you will need a certain type of MIB2 unit for best results.

I haven't heard of "VC" before. What is it exactly? Which headunit part number would work with it?

VC = Virtual Cockpit a.k.a digital instrument cluster, digital dashboard or - as VW call it - active instrument display (AID).

Oh, of course! I totally forgot about it. Which headunit part numbers would support VC then?

5F0035877 mib2 Std Seat unit.

Or you could buy a Skoda unit and convert it to Seat. Skoda units are significantly cheaper on the market with MOST. You'd need a data set with the Skoda signature and a Seat data set itself. This would eliminate the data set error, but the coding error would remain because the CPU variant is still Skoda. However, this is only a minor issue.

Well, that's the exact one I could get. My only question is how do I get rid of the component protection on that one? And will android auto work?

Yes, but by this Unit the SD Patch dont Work. You have To Open the Unit and Connect direct on the emmc and have To use QNX

Alright. That one is very difficult to unlock. So, it's either without MOST or with MOST and very difficult to remove the CP.

What is the part number of the non MOST one then that works with the SD Patch?

Whether the SD patch works depends solely on the hardware version of the device in Seat vehicles. The SD patch works on all devices up to hardware version 4, provided it's a navigation system (i.e., has two SD card slots). HW Version 5 you have To Open the unit

Unit without Navi and 1 SD Slot, you have every Time to Open the unit

I should look for ones with 2 SD card slots but avoid 5F0035877, right?

I suppose the ones with HW version 5 are newer? If so, I should also avoid the newest model years too. Am I right?
