Got two cars in the household, one is my Cupra Ateca, the other is an Audi Q3 (F3) 35TFSI Advanced which is provided by the company where my wife is employed; both 2025, both SFD2.

In the early days of my car's arrival, retrofitters around here were "somehow" able to perform codings on units protected by SFD2, so I was able to do some small & big retrofits.

Now I have some other things in my mind for both cars, but my retrofitter guys are telling me that they are no longer able to do SFD2-protected stuff, at least for the time being but it is unclear if they will ever be again.

I guess VAG discovered the methods they were using and shut down those doors.

Now I wonder if this is the case all around the world, or are there still people who can manage to do SFD2 related retrofits?

Saw this post today, feeling it is too good to be true and staying skeptical until I see it in action. 🤞🏻

SFD2 isn't "unlocked" like SFD1

SFD1 - Unlock the control module then work as normal
SFD2 - Send the new values for selected addresses to the mothership as a hex string. Receive a huge hex string back, enter into the control module and the intended changes are automatically applied. You're never free to simply make fresh changes, you need a fresh string every time


SFD2 is forced due to UNECE R155 R156 so it'll be interesting to see what they're allowed. Whenever we install genuine accessories such as towbars/cameras on UNECE R155 R156 vehicles it's a huge headache and every control module on the car is reconfigured regardless of if it's necessary. The vehicles type approval is automatically reissued to ensure compliance

Yes, and because of this, each change will most probably require an amount to be paid to VAG through OBD11. And I believe safety-related codings and adaptations will not be allowed at all.
