Hello everyone

I'm new here so please bear with me.

I know that the topic of upgrading from MIB1 to MIB2 has been discussed many times but I have a question that I haven't found an answer to anywhere.

I would like to upgrade my MIB1 to MIB2. I would like to install a 5F0919606 screen but I don't know which central unit is best for this. I found many unit numbers (and probably not all of them) but I don't know how they differ from each other:
5Q0035858B
5F0035043C
5F0035020
5F0035043
5QA035846B
5F0035877A
5QA035842
5QA035858B
5QA035874
Is there a page somewhere that describes the differences in the individual variants? What should I pay attention to?
Which unit is the best?
I need GPS navigation and Full Link with Carplay
I currently have a Seat leon 5F from 2014 with MIB1 with GPS and Navigation.

I would be grateful for your help

These ones are with virtual cockpit option and DAB+. If u ever have the need to upgrade. U have the best options.

5F0035874A MIB2 Standard

5F0035020F MIB2 High

I have them both in stock to play arround with. The standard version is HW50 and supports the last know software update. The high version must stil look at. I am no expert on this but for the same money as older HW units u also can find some gems.

You only need the mib with fiber optic connection for the navigation map in the virtual cockpit. I don't have it.

Thank you very much for your help.

I will look for 5F0035874A then

And is version 5F0035877A as good as 5F0035874A?

5F0035877A is without fiber optic connection but also HW50.

Is the cheapest and best option fibre is only needed for the virtual cockpit.

Ebay sellers sell them unlocked if needed.

Does version 5F0035874A have a fiber optic connector?
How do you know (is there any marking) if the main unit has a fiber optic connection?

On the backside beside the quadlock is a extra black connection port.

Hey, sorry to add to this thread, I've been reading through now for about 30 minutes and can't really understand it all myself so I thought it'd just be easier if I ask the questions I need the answers to

I've bought a 6.5 display from a 2016 leon, and I've bought a virtual cockpit compatible MIB2 unit from eBay (5F0035877A)

I've had it sat around for a while due to needing a lot of parts, like the USB etc since I don't have one right now at all

To go from a 2014 fr technology to an MIB2 unit with carplay etc, this is what I understand I need:

  • Display

  • Glovebox Unit

  • USB & Wiring for it

  • Get component protection removed if it needs it

Is there anything else I need at all? As far as I am aware I don't need to change any wiring etc other than adding the USB wiring somehow

Any help is greatly appreciated, cheers

I am doing the exact same retrofit ATM. If you have entry level MiB system you just need the kit from AliExpress. And if you want CarPlay you have to change the usb port.

And new wiring for that needed as original one isn’t powerful enough for the new usb. Bought mine off eBay but AliExpress does the full CarPlay retrofit kit for it also.

that's amazing, so the actual quadlock etc doesn't need replacing or anything like that? other than the coding, adding the usb wiring and the new display/glovebox unit, its just a plug and play situation wiring wise?

Ye plug and play wire wise and then needs coding. I bought carista scanner and used car scanner app but couldn’t code properly so taking it to vag Specialist to code via odis on Friday

The unit will require activation & component protection removal (not DIY), coding & parameterisation

Are you sure the unit you've bought has a MOST connector?... 5F0035877A does not, so it does not support maps on a virtual cockpit

There's 0 benefits to using 5F0035877A over 5QA035858, only cons
