Tyre Pressure on 17" Wheels

Just wondering what pressure folks are running on the 17" WHeels.

I've recently found the steering to be far too light - so much so it feels as if it's "wandering" at motorway speeds. I check my tyre pressures regularly and keep them at the recommended 33psi.

Last night at work I reduced the pressure to 30psi and on the 15 mile journey home felt the car to be a lot better. Still pulling to the left but tehn they all do that!

I'm hoping it won't effect the tyre wear too much - but it's worth it for the superior driving and handling.

Any thoughts?

Had a full 4 wheel alignment check mate - 3K miles ago - tyres appear to be wearing evenly however still got the pull to the left. Its a common problem with the MK4's mate - most of them do it and it's aproper pain (and costly) to get them 100 true. Both my MK4's done it however it's not pulling enough to make me shell out!

I did mine today to 33psi. Haven't done them for a while and they were on 25/26

You can adjust the steering weight with Vag-Com if you have access to it.

Yes mate - Chr15B, the friendly local VAG-COM expert has offered to do this once we're both free. Reducing the PSi also made it feel more sure footed in the corners though, giving me more grip.

I think the pressures are different for the TDIs and Petrols. Mine says 32 all over.

iirc inside the filler cap is the tyre pressure guide. On my Cupra TDI it says 32 all round unlessthe car is under heavy load.

I dont know that many fat people so it isn't usually under heavy load

PS mine doesn't pull to the left!

Mines are at 30 all over, I prefer heavier steering also - feel more in control of the vehicle.

I'll drop you a PM during the week mate, I think I'll be available most of next weekend! :)

I decided I'd check mines today as it's been a couple of months... they were all at 25PSI! I put them all back up to 30. :)

On my filler cap it says 33psi at the front and 30 at the rear.

But I always drive on 38f - 35r. Before when I was driving on the recommended pressure I had to throw away 2 tyres because they had balloons pop out on them cause of the bad roads here!

Mine are a bit higher, i'd rather have them like that than too low, alloys crack that way...
