Hi everyone, after owing my leon for 2 years, I thought I'd start a page showing my progress. I was coming from a nissan micra and at first thought the power was suprising to me (nearly a jump of 100bhp!)

All usual fr spec but mine comes with full-black leather with arm rest which is quite rare.

Short-term plans:

Front areo-wipers: Now fitted
Fabia rear wiper: To be done
LED sidelights: Now fitted
HID Lights: Now fitted

Long time plans:

To be lowered on eibach pro springs (30mm/25mm): To be done
Jabbasport remap: To be done
Full respray in lamborghini milano pearl yellow: Now done
De-badged boot: Now done
Full cupra r kit with 17' cupra r wheels: Now fitted
Rear lights slightly tinted with Lamin-x (looks quite dark actually): Now done
Front wind deflectors, not some crappy ones but good quality from Germany: £80: Now fitted
Pipercross panel filter: To be done
Audi TT uprated wishbone bushes: To be done
TurboRevs Twin Exhaust Back Box with Stainless Steel Tip (heard no point putting cat-back on a diesel?): To be done
Change standard head unit: Had enough with burning cds: To be done
Egr to be cleaned or mapped out: To be done
Visit Terraclean (Read some good reviews on how it cleans high mileage cars injectors and restores performance?): To be done

Will post pics once I get past 14 post!

Had a new gearbox, clutch and flywheel fitted as the old gearbox was knackered. Thanks to AA breakdown cover saved a few bucks, otherwise bank balance would have been low

Mine was a standard fr and loved the look of the cupra r but couldnt afford the running costs as I'm a student. So sourced all the parts including the 17' cupra r wheels. Budgeted carefully but was difficult sourcing the front bumper and found one on ebay for a reasonable price.

When I first brought it.

Looking at the different shade of yellow on the panels, it was clear it needed a full respray

Some don't like the interior of the leon but for me its something special.

Well after the dreadful 2011 winter, the colour had turned white in some places and lacquer was peeling off the roof! Had to wait till May 2012 for the full respray as someone told me its always best to spray a car in the summer...

Finally May arrived and I was on the hunt for a decent bodyshop and found one through a friend. I couldn't believe my ears when I asked the price (you don't wanna know!). The job involved stripping the whole car etc bumpers, lights, seals, not including the engine. What colour to chose was a puzzle; seen a few SCN members having theirs done in liquid yellow so wanted to do something different....wnet for the lamborghini milano pearl yellow.

The work being done:

Took a whole week and had to walk everywhere! Been driving for 6 years now, got lazy and all that walking affected my legs lol. How she was when it came home :)

The bumper was a bit wonky, had three garages try sorting it out but no luck

Under fluorescent light you could see the effect and the sparkle. Looks even better with sunlight...but under no light looks like a normal paint  People get a bit of a shock when they see the effect!

Got a little bored, was thinking about getting a new car but just couldnt part with my baby so thought why not fit the cupra r kit with the wheels. As the FR and the Cupra R have totally different bumpers, I would end up with a new car anyway and save a bit of dough which I could have brought a new car with. Found the wheels on ebay for £250! Got them refurbished in the standard colour (one's kerbed now from some careless driving lol), the rear bumper was very easy to source but the front bumper took a while. Kept my eye on fleabay and finally managed to get one.

Handed the car to a different bodyshop as the last one messed up on a few things. The roof had cracked, the front bumper wasnt on right, my bonnet had sooo many stonechips and all he had to was sand them down apply lacquer but no he went the easy way by just spraying the bonnet without the prep work!

Here it is in the body shop:

Again was without the car for 2 weeks this time! As the sprayer wanted to a perfect job first time. (Car was handed to bodyshop in September 2012 for the cupra r fitting and touch ups which were roof, bonnet, sides of roof all resprayed again

And this is what I achieved after nearly 2 1/2 years of owning my leon! The R kit has changed the look of the car and I fell in love again lol

The foglights are missing and Seat wants £90 for one! Forget that, heard the audi A6 1997-2001 shape the foglights are the same? Or might scan ebay for a while...

The next step is lowering. Thinking about eibach pro springs, read good reviews. As she's my usual ride and the only car in the family I'm tasked with 'family missions' so can't really drop it too low. Lowering has to wait as my MOT is due after christmas, if she passes without any faults then she's going low! Also considering a stage 1 remap from jabbasport in the new year.

Thanks for looking

A quick snap of LEDS and HID lights:

LEDS:

Peterborough-20121120-00783.jpg

Only cost £1.99 with free posting, can't go wrong

And HID lights

Peterborough-20121120-00784.jpg

Not too bright on other drivers eye and gives good light on the road with a blue tint

My cousin's a MOT tester and he mentioned the other day if you have aftermarket HID's, you need to install headlight washers?
