Back in august 2005 i bought my first and loved every thing about the car, unfortunately on february 19th 2006 at one of the sheffield meet she got wrote off.

I then bought the Cordy to act as a fill in as i couldnt find a GTi that i really like or that had been kept in the propper original condition.

Great car but 2 years and £4000 in repairs later i found what i was after................... An Alpine White SEAT Ibiza GTi 2.0 8v!!!!!

Picked her up yesterday, so she's not fully cleaned up yet:

Pretty close to original, full up to date SEAT service history, cupra sport floor mats, in very good condition with only 60k on the clock!

Only addition is rear parking sensors, must be the only MK2 on here with them!

Not many major plans for this one apart from keeping it looking as good as it does now, little ones i've got are:
*Refurb alloys - going for Alpine white spokes with gloss black nut covers
*Get rid of the cupra sport stickers stuck all over
*Spray parking sensors to match rear bumper

Oh there might be a supercharger going in at some point too - but thats a pipe dream for now

Looks really well in white. All three look great. Are they the standard gti wheels, because I have them on my cordy for some readon.

looks clean, how come you went for an 8valver?

Its only got a few tiny marks and no rust which is the main thing, i trecked to northampton for her so salt and grits not got to it.

Went for the 8v because of the reasons m0rk says, as a daily its far better than the 16v, its not as tempermental and the clutch and gear box are much nicer.

As fun as the Cordy was in short blasts, driving 40+miles a day in it was just uncomfortable. The cordy has gone on to Phil who will be using it as a second car/toy so it will be ideal for him.

Only wish it had aircon but i don't think i've ever seen an 8v with it.

Its last owner was Mavis, so that should say it all about how well its been cared for

I like it!

I'd be tempted to only do the last one! IMO I think the 8v alloys are best refurbed standard!

Very nice! Really like them in white, and good to see an original one! Think I'd keep it that way, even with the Cupra Sport stickers!!!

;)

I keep looking at them and wondering about it, not many left with them these days and i know you cant get them anymore, however the one on the boot lid looks really slapped on any old fashion. Maybe i'll just remove that one and take a view on the side ones later.

Anything i do will have to be 100% reversible even if i do go for the different wheel colours they can always be sprayed back, something will have to be done though as they are beginning to suffer from the famous bubbling paint problem.

Really nice car mate. In the best colour aswell . I really want to get a gti now, but one with low miles and that has been pretty well looked after.

Cheers mate, yeah i had an Alpine white 5 door and its a really good colour when in good nick, my fave is Tornado red but i don't want another in that colour as i want the first GTi to stay 'special'

This set me back £1400.00 with FDSH and full MOT.

Unfortunately i'm without it until tomorrow night as its in at the local VW specialist having the once over, however i've got the MK3 to give me my SEAT fix :)

Like this a lot mate. Saw it on fleabay and clocked the rear parking sensors. Think I would miss the singing valver if I was to change to an 8v, but then like you say its probably a more sensible choice for you to use every day.
Look forward to seeing how it turns out

Right last week whilst having a little play i got carried away and did the un thinkable....... fractured the bloody pedal box!!!!! I did this on the cordoba and straight away thought i'm not paying £300 to have a new one fitted!!!

As you can see the bar that braces both halves of the box together is severly fractured, not suprised really its about as thin as tin foil! My first idea was welding and got onto my friend, but getting a welder in there would be dangerous and difficult, however he run rally land rovers and told me about a diff that he had put back together using Liquid Metal. Turns out this is a very strong metal bonding glue that is as strong as welding but as it dries slowly allows much more positioning. So i formulated a plan and hit B & Q.

DSC00319.jpg

Cable ties, metal braces 7mm thick and Metal Glue :D

After an hour sanding, degreasing, followed by much glueing and a few cable ties to clamp everything to:

Looks very messy but looks don't count up the back of the dash, the main problem with these pedal boxes is the bracket that holds the clutch cable flexing and putting strain on the rest of the box until something snaps, so its now well and truly attached to the bulk head. I also braced this bracket to the lower half of the box to add more strength. I then repaired the area that had cracked by filling and then bracing again.

Final look with me going over kill with the glue:

Cable tied it all together to make it rigid and allow it to set hard for 24 hours, a day later it doesnt move an inch :D i guess only time will tell if the glue really is as good as welding!
