FMIC: Universal or Forge?

Please don't flame me :duck:

Was thinking for a long time about getting a Forge FMIC. Best price I have so far is about £600. I thought about Uni, then though nah.

However, I asked danny_lad about his, and he reckons they're ok for 300bhp. My 10month(ish) plan is 225-240bhp and long term plan, about 300bhp (or as near as)

So, which would people recommend? I guess most would say Forge.

How easy are the Uni ones to fit? And are there any drawback to the Uni one?

Cheers,

Mat

To cope with 300+ you will need a forge one mate , the uni ones about are good for k03s upto around 260 ish . So what you planning for 300 bhp mate??

I know its easy to say cos everyone wants everything now ( i do ) but id wait n get a hybred K03s then you buy 1 turbo , and 1 map etc and save loads a dosh. ( even put it on a card .... i did )

Just look at the differance between the forge one and the Uni one , even if you decide to get the std K03s it cant hurt to be have that cool EGT's.
But if ( or when by the sounds of it ) you do pay for 2 turbos , 2 maps and 2 lots of labour you will need a big cooler ( they also look alot better lol , that may sway you )

Forge one hands down mat if you want a quality set up and simple to fit. Universal one if you are a skin flint that wants a crap set up lol. in robbies thread the other day he worked out the capacity of a few coolers and the ebay (THS) one came out complete pants

was thinking one of the benefits of forge are that they are easy to fit (plus lifetime warrenty IIRC). IIRC, the uni one needs the bumper modified or something???

Phil: let me know as soon as you know. I'm not after one right now, but i have almost enough saved for a forge one. Always looking out for a bargin. PM with a price if you can

Cheers

I have to agree to go with the Forge set up but then again people may think Im being a tad biased as I run the Forge set up, the Forge kit oozes quality finish and as already said you get unsurpassed warranty that many other companys cannot offer. Another factor is how long do you plan to keep the car too, just my 2Ps worth ;)

if your only going hybrid then the uni one will do fine! if you are going bigger then you have to go with the forge!

People posting rubbish like you have to be a skint flint to buy a uni intercooler is a joke! If we all followed the crowd and got forge intercoolers then everyone would have the same looking car! its goes on personal opinions like alloy wheels aswel as perfomance!
Dont get me wrong the forge intercooler is the nuts! but i wouldnt fork out for a nearly 1k intercooler when most mk3 cupras are selling a 3.5k! if i was running a hybrid, uni all the way! WAIT i am!
