Beeping when starting - coolant light

I've been experiencing over the last few months an intermittent issue where if I leave the car a few days without use, when I do start the car after a few seconds there is an audible beep. The beep is the same as when you hit the low fuel marker but the coolant light will flash red and will not stop until the car is shut off then restarted where the issue is not evident.
Has anyone had experience with this or know what the issue is?

Cheers

Hi, I had this on my LCR and did all that is being suggested but in the end had to buy a new expansion tank. If I remember rightly you can't buy the sender unit separately.

HI
No you can`t get the sender unit on its own , but then it is only approx £10 and does not take long to do
I did it on my fella`s Octavia with him and it did only take 5 mins and din`t loose a drop of coolant
Then no more beeps so it was all good :D

I'll be checking the levels tomorrow and will do the little trick as suggested. Thanks all for your help and knowledge

It's definitely worth scraping the prongs as people have said.

I had this issue last year and scraped the prongs. It solved it then and touch wood it hasn't come back (yet) this year.

Saying that though a new bottle isn't dear but I'm all for saving a few quid when I can!
