Need help - whats this hole for???

It's for inspecting timing marks on flywheel. You have a big rubber plug missing.

oh, I have a big rubber plug missing should my local stealers be able to source a replacement or is it not important?

It isn't massively important, but you just wouldn't want anything getting in there really So i personally would get it sorted

It looks like the threaded stopper off an hot water bottle.

haha it sure does, just checked for you, they are only £2.70+VAT from the dealers (well there or there abouts )

It might sound daft but have a check over/around the gearbox for it, it might be lying on the top somewhere - when we changed Willie's gearbox out his was missing, found it over by the gearchange mechanism!

Found a Random Plug!

When I was changing the CTS I found a rubber plug rolling around loose in the engine bay.

Does anyone have a clue where this is from?

Hehe. Hopefully it is just a spare and not supposed to be doing something more important!

It goes in the bell housing on the gearbox and is an inspection hole cover.
It covers the hole where you view the crankshaft timing mark when timing up the engine.

The problem with them is; over time the rubber goes hard and wont grip in the hole, i have just bought a new one they are only a coulpe of quid.

It's of your nans hot water bottle.
