From a "wish" I read about in this forum (in July?) and with a tremendous amount of research and assistance from a few of its members - I am happy to announce the reality of remote folding mirrors for your Cupra R! Two forum cars can attest to this as they've been running with a beta version for some time now. To those folks (who may choose to reveal themselves) I say "Thank you, without your help this would not have happened." Wishes coming true is what this season is all about...

AutoWindow has combined remote mirror folding and remote window capability into one new model called "Reflex". It's the top of the line!

[UPDATED Feb. 9, 2004]
Reflex is now available as a product from the autowindow web site. And you can read all about the function and capabilities there.. www.autowindow.com
You can order it on-line using PayPal.

[UPDATE May 29, 2004]
Newsflash: AutoWindow products are now being carried in the U.K. by Awesome GTI, you can buy AutoWindow Reflex for mirrors, or any other AutoWindow model at the store. (Awesome has replaced their previous window closure module with AutoWindow products and now it is less expensive as well!) Stock should be on the shelf there in about two weeks from this update.

They are located at:
Awesome GTI Store

WOW Scott thats cool!

Just before I put my order in I've got a question.

My Leon only just fits into my garage. I have to fold the mirrors in, in order to get the car into the garage. Now when I get out of the car and lock it I'm guessing the "Reflex" device would try and fold the mirros in again, which is fair enough that isn't a problem. But when I unlock the car would the "Reflex" fold the mirrors out? - If it does this would cause me a problem.

Thanks for your help

Paz

If it's got folding mirrors, it would do (I can't imagine that the systems are any diffent to the Cupra R, Golf, TT).

Maybe you could be he first Cupra owner to try it out...

Paz, You can change the settings on the Reflex so that the mirrors don't always fold out when you unlock the driver's door - you'll have to press UNLOCK UNLOCK in order for them to fold out. In fact you can completley switch it off if you want to.

If you do buy one, I would test it very carefully and be sure you know how it works...

Now that sounds like a good idea, just a couple of questions!

How easy is it to fit? I don't like the idea of pulling apart the door myself!

Are there many Leons in Canada???!!

Yes , it works on the Cupra, of course! Most of the research for it came from my car:D

If anyone want a demo, i'll be at the RR day at Stealth in Jan.

So sorry Pete, you've been well beaten to this one:p

Its not that hard. Good instructions are provided!
If anyone's interested we could have a 'group-fitting' session at the RR day, i'll take you all through it step by step.

Hahaha! Oh yes! Mind you, I could burn boiling water! DUO2, does the system work well? From what I understand it is just variations on the number of key clicks? I have a 130 SE TDi with folding mirrors, I assume the wiring will be the same as a Cupra?

As long as you have folding mirrors and the red flashing LED in the driver's door when the car is locked, it will work.
The system works by issueing different commands to the windows and mirrors after combinations of pressing unlock/lock on the remote.
Alternatively, as I do, it can be set to roll-up the windows (if they're open obviously) and fold the mirrors every time the car is locked. The system works flawlessly.

Which reminds me folks, this unit is not *just* a mirror folding device, it also includes opening and closing of the windows from the remote too!;)
