Reverse Light

Wondered if anyone has found any way of improving the reverse light output? I have quite a long and dark hedge-lined driveway to reverse out of and find the reverse light a bit weedy. Is it as simpe as putting in a high light output bulb or have folk found that that doesn't make much difference?

If it's a cheap and easy fix I think it's worth doing, if not it really doesn't bother me that much! :)

Ebay mate item number: 350458872082 might be worth u havin a look

There is a thread in the Leon forum about those. Check out post #10 they put pictures to show the bulb compared to OE. Looks much better.
REVERSE LIGHT BULB THREAD

From the look of the picture on the ebay advert this won't fit the Mk5 Beeza as it's a capped bulb and according the the bulb guide in the FAQ section our cars take the W16W reverse light bulb which is capless. It don't help having tinted rear glass and a feeble reverse light. The muppet at Seat who signed off the SC reverse light as good to go needs to be recalibrated :flamed:

What we need is a LED capless bulb. I've just ordered some so will post up what they look like when I get them.

i don't know about others but mine i checked and it is 1156. i have placed this( http://www.ebay.com/itm/25092247327...NX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_1641wt_972 ) but they are 200lumen and they suck
and if that was the output of the 5w with 400 lumen so the bulb 7w 1156 with 500lumen will be perfect for me so it is my next order http://www.ebay.com/itm/22081957161...AX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_3639wt_935

yes it is a 5-dr ibiza not the SC and it has 2 reverse light and 2 fogs too the sc i think has only one bulb.
that foto was taken about 19-20 dec. and outside it was indeed warm i was only with a t-shirt and a jacket on top.
Wings988 did you opened your taillight to check the base of the bulb when you ordered the w16w or did you just see it on internet???
cause on internet it says w16w on mine too but it isn't , i opened my light and read the old bulb to be sure and i was 1156 or bas15s.

Found this when trawling the bay of e this morning. Item number: 300628659451 I don't know if they'll be any better than the standard bulb, I may try one myself in the new year. When reversing on my drive the only way I can see where I'm going is to go in the house and turn the light on in the porch to give me a little extra light before attempting the drive

i think you look at the wrong type of bulbs.
check it again it says t10 w5w 501
so it is not for reverse

I'm pretty sure that the SC has one 16 watt lamp with a glass base.
I'm almost certain that the 5 door has two 10 watt lamps with metal base - R10W is one name.

Hope that might help.

Anyone tried any bulbs that really make a difference for the 5dr version? I have my son's car parked at the back of the drive and it is steep and curved and visibility out back is nil on dark and rainy nights! If I can guarantee to be able to see something with new bulbs I will definitely buy some! When it's my car behind, my son's Saxo's reversing lights light up the whole of the side of my car and beyond.

On my MK4 i have an LED reverse light and i must say - Do Not waste the money. It looks good but it doesn't light anything up until you're on top of it - plus mine is flickering atm! I don't know about the mk5 but in the mk4 someone is using a h7 as a reverse bulb, so this is my next stop.. Wonder if it is avaliable on the MK5 :)?

There is not a lot of room around the bulb in a mk5 and everything around the bulb is plastic. I would be very careful using an H7 or other 55w bulb in the reverse light.
