Would this fit the 1.2 tsi fr? And is it best to take the air box out? Or am I best getting something else?

This is what your wanting...
K&N RU-5111 UNIVERSAL 76MM NECK INTERNAL DIAMETER - 146MM LONG CAR AIR FILTER
On ebay for £29 from a business seller, direct fit for the 1.2 tsi and you could probably use it on other cars seeing as the 76mm neck is the size most cars have or smaller so you could use a reducer to fit it.
Sounds really good, induction roar isn't very load but you can hear the turbo boosting and purging out boost when you come off the pedal, sounds just like a dump valve haha. Definitely worth the £30.
Next I'm planning on doing a custom air feed to the filter but there's not much space in the engine bay to fit one!
Doea that come with the hose or do I put that in the air box?
Thanks mate
You disconnect the air intake tube from the air box, then take off airbox lid, put the new filter on the end of the tube, then tighten the hose clamp with a screwdriver.
2 minute job and no need to buy anything except the air filter.
You'll need torx screw heads for the airbox lid screws, a set of pliers to get the hose clamp off the air tube and a flat screwdriver to tighten the hose clamp over the new filter.
Don't buy cheap non-descript filters. You don't want some crappy filter that lets stuff into your engine pr filter paper that sill break down quickly. Have seen it before.
Sean1875; ive been thinking same, the standard intake from grill is shocking. Small and most of the airflow is directed away from the intake. What you thinking?
Im thingnking take a new air feed from battery side of bumper, not sure how ot would look, that or fit a bigger air intake lower down on the large part of the grill, not sure how much space ill have to play with because of the fan, obviously I want as larg a dia pipe as poss.
So the k&n Sean talked about is perfect then right?
guys iv just taken my air box lid off to have a little look, and I found the air filter being quite a big size! Would using a smaller k&n reduce power dramatically? Also would it not make sense to put a induction kit at the front of the engine bay where the air feed comes away from the front of the car? So have the air filter coming off the small bend just off the engine and taking the air feed pipe that goes to the air box off? Genuine question as I'm not sure just want the best!

I've got one of the k&n replacement filters in mine and you don't notice much difference it's abit more responsive I would recommend it for the £20 it isHi i have a 1.2tsi fr ibiza 14 plate which uses the cylinder air filter. Now i don't wsnt to go ripping air boxes out ad its got a nice 12 month seat all componant warranty. But i would like a less restrictive air flow if poss. Either k&n E2997 or Pipercross PX1819 in the box replacement elements. Now im new to all this so please be gentle lol.
1:Will it a make any difference to the cars running performance?
2:Affect fuel economy?
3:noise levels? As i know a cone filter will be making a sucking type noise. I dont want that attention if poss.
Cheers
where did you purchase the filter from ? looking to get one for my 1.2 Tsi Fr 14 plate. Andy
