don't shoot! I swear I googled first and nothing came up!

the manual says "50L, of which 7L is reserve".

Any one know what does that reserve bit mean?

The reason I asked is that, I went to Tesco to fuel up. I put 45L into the tank, but before I did, the fuel gauge is showing 2 bars in white. my logic tells me that if I have to put in 45L, then I must only have 5L left. If that's the case, I must have dipped into the reserve, but yet the fuel gauge shows white and no warning sign came up. Any ideas? The range at the time says, I have 85 miles left and I have been averaging 55 mpg. so it does looks like I have just about 7L left.... May be I have 5L in the tank but 2L is in the fuel delivery system? :p

cheers

I believe the fuel guage goes to red and a warning comes up when the range is down to 35 miles. That would suggest 1 gallon remaining - i have no idea what that is in litres 3/4?

I'm assuming you meant 3 - 4 litres as opposed to 0.75 litres....
In fact it's about 4.5 litres...

I've read a few threads where people have driven upto 15 miles after it's read 0 miles too... Me I haven't got the grapes to try that...

Sorry, yes 3 or 4 litres. Now I know it's 4.5!

That is one gallon based on worst case mpg too rather than the average OP is seeing.

I start sweating when I see the red after running out of fuel in my old beemer with a dodgy guage!

I have squeezed in 50 litres plenty of times, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a 50l tank and 7l reserve

I might be wrong, but I thought when the red light starts flashing on the fuel light means you are dipping into reserve?

Also did I read you went to a supermarket to fill up? Hope it was Momentum 99 ;)

Somebody who had an Ibiza (45 litre tank) managed to put just under 52 liters...perhaps this tank (like the Leon) is 45+7, or 50+7 on Leon.

I wonder if this means even on 0 range left, one can travel easily another 50miles? Anyone dares to try? Hee hee...

yep, Tesco 99. Although the user manual (only found in US version but not the UK version), it says 1.2 TSI is for 95 or 91 (with decrease in power). only the 2.0L that is for 98 /95 (with decrease in power). No idea, im happy with 99. doesnt cost that much more.

yea, i suspect it is 50 + 7 too. may be just bad translation in the manual.

From my personal experience on a smaller TSI engine (the 999cc one), Momentum 99, Shell/Esso/BP 95, no difference in mpg figures on the trip computer (I do the same journey every weekend, same time, etc).

Shell V Power however (yes it's more expensive, while where I'm at in East London, all the above fuels, Momentum/Shell/BP/Esso) are roughly the same price per litre) does give more mpg (about 4-6mpg on trip computer everything being equal). Reality brim to brim I don't know.

More on that here: http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=438541

Powerwise, well lets be realistic, it's a 1.0 TSI, perhaps with 95 RON fuel it outputs 110-115 PS and with 99 RON it outputs 115-120PS? If there is a difference, well I can't feel it.

I wonder if 7 litres is the amount the pipe / pump from the fuel tank in the back of the car to the engine to the front of the car holds.

I topped up my 1.4 fr today with 49.6l and thought that was getting close, perhaps not by the sound of it. I wasn't willing to risk any further though!!!
