Hi,

I have searched the forum but i am not sure if a lot of the answers I found are relevant to a standard 1.4 petrol leon. The car has started juddering after being driven for a few hundred metres when the engine is cold in the morning. It doesn't happen after that for the rest of the day. I have just got it back from the seat dealers who said the ran a full diagnostics and found nothing wrong with her but as soon as I drove out of the garage, it started again. It just lasts for a few seconds and no warning lights are coming on in the dashboard. If it's any help, the belt tensioner for the alternator belt went and was replaced a few weeks before this started happening. I don't know if this would have anything to do with it but it is driving me up the wall at the moment and I want to find out exactly what is causing the problem. I would appreciate any help as the dealer stung me for the price and the problem is still there.

Thanks,

David

Mines a 1.4 and is jumpy and occasionally cuts out when cold. VAG Com doesn't show anything. Found 2 coil packs were faulty. This stopped the problems a little but they are still present. Have also been told to check the rev idle sensor and temperature sensor. Not had chance to check them yet though.

Hi ya,

Yeah, i just got it back from the dealers and I'm still trying to figure out what exactly they did for the money they charged? Forgive my stupidity but where exactly are the coil packs? From what I have read, I'll be able to change them myself. To top if off, the car has started making a horrible grating noise when I start her (never rains but it pours). I reckon it's the starter acting up so I will get it all sorted at the same time. Have you had any similar problem? Thanks for the reply.

To get to the coild packs you need to take the engine cover off mate (You need an Allen key to get the 4 screws off). SEAT didn't use ignition leads (HT leads) and put a coil on each spark plug.
Those are the coil packs :)

Each coil pack just pulls off. They are in quite tight though and make sure you unclip the wires.

Not had any noises coming from the starter though but I still gotta sort out the wheel bearings and suspension bushes :(

Mine does this (1.8T). It's also hesitant in 4th and 5th gear and the engine will 'flat spot', where I get no boost. The car logs no fault codes.
To cap it all off it failed an MOT this weekend on the emissions test (lambda reading outside specified limits). I don't know if this is related to the above problems.
It's going into the dealer tomorrow.
