This is mainly aimed at stage 2 cars high up on the leaderboard.
What were these parameters that yielded your best times.

1. T/c on or off
2. Dsg mode
3. Held on handbrake or footbrake before hitting gas
4. Manual changes or letting dsg do its thing.
5. Front tyre pressure and make/model of tire
6.Your 60ft time and 1/4 mile time

I'm asking this as there is a polo on the leaderboard with 60ft times of 2.0 which is 0.2s faster tHan anyone I have seen. Having analysed both mine and his split times, I am faster than him all the way to the end from 60ft. But I can't recover from that 0.2s.

Help much appreciated

I'll go first

1. Launch ctrl
2. S mode
3. Held on brake with foot on gas because of launch control
4.change at 6.5k apart from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd where l/c takes over
5.30psi and federal rsr
6. 2.2 and 13.6

No offence seatleonfr it might not matter to you but it does to lucifer, if you read the ibiza 1.4tsi 1/4mile leaderboard you'll appreciate where lucifer is coming from he's after a quick 1/4 mile car so is after advice from other users as to how they run their cars

TC off if enough grip
dsg: D, short shift at peak bhp,
nope go from idle, less chance of wheel spin
manual change at peak bhp
tyre pressure dependant on condition
-
=

thats how id try it.

launch control is nice, but will generate wheel spin which isnt desired.

5.30psi and federal rsr

30 psi sounds far too high to me for optimum grip from the start line.

When I used to drag race a nissan pulsar gtir, I dropped the Toyo 888's down to 20psi, albeit, the pulsar was 4wd.

If you are suffering from wheel spin, drop the fronts to 25psi and see how you go from there.

I get no wheel spin because of launch ctrl just tyre squeal and I didn't want to sacrifice high end speed nut now looking back at the Times, I can see that the tyre pressures were too high. Since everyone beforehand had 2.2s to 60ft and I was getting that I didn't realize there was so much time to be gained there until I saw the polo do it in 2.0

My best to 60ft was 2.09, just rechecked my timeslip at 'dragtimes.com', it was so long ago I forgot. That was with 888s at 30psi, in + - autoshifting on the red line, with no spare or tools.

Do you think the r888 are much better than the federal rsr? That's a brutal launch to 60ft. Do you have any idea why you have found it hard getting another 2.0? Just looked at your split times and compared to mine from last week and Im faster than you from 60ft to 1/8th and 1/8th to 1/4 mile. But you destroyed me to 60ft. If I can get that 0.2 off the start there's a 13.4 in the car under the same conditions as the previous run...which were hot. Only chance this year to take it to Santa pod is the beginning of october

The factors involved were - new tyres, sticky right hand lane, perfect weather with breeze blowing down track, aggressive early Revo map, 99 octane fuel with additive, light car+driver, traction control on, luck. Currently running stage 1 as need bigger intercooler. May be running slower now but last terminal speed was still over 100mph. Demon Tweeks may do super soft compound tyres or slicks in right size, launch is critical. I could strip all trim/dash and gain near a second! Maybe I will when an Ibiza beats me. ;)

R888s are definitely grippier. 595RSRs are more comparable to the Toyo R1Rs.

Bear in mind ibizaracebrake has had a fairly large amount of weight reduction carried out on it. That will help alot.

I was advised to drop the front pressures to around 22-25psi and raise the rears to around 40psi

Bigger intercooler? Have you been having problems with intake temps too on a hot day? Im going ahead with a wmi kit which should help alot. I think now the car has reached this stage I'm going to go ahead with the r888s or its a wasted opportunity. I did strip rear seats and spare wheel out and lightweight battery but not as extreme weight saving as yours. The launch control doesn't kill power as much as the t/c, it keeps the wheels at the edge of losing traction but with tyres on their last legs and prob too much pressure, the limit of grip was lower.

I had rears as much as it allowed on the tyre wall but yeah point taken on the fronts, irritated by myself because it seems so obvious now. Should be colder October time though so I can take advantage of the higher setting and wmi may be installed by then if I can work out where. Some of the wires go.
