Hi I'm new to the site, I'm Sam from South Wales.

After having numerous problems over the last month, I'd like some more Intel from other owners.

I bought my ex's car off him with an engine management light on that I know had been on for some time. First of all it came up as pressure sensor and intermittent egr fault. Changed the pressure sensor made no difference and the light came back on, as it wasn't causing a driving issue I left it until after Christmas.

My car went into limp mode a month ago so had it checked again, same sensor came up so changed it again with genuine part this time. Also egr problem came back up, I took the car for a terraclean hoping it will help solve the issue and had a regen done. Dpf light came on the same day I took for terra too. Had the clean done same position still in limp and all lights still on.

Two days later took car back in for forced regen, and got the dpf spot down to a level that the light went off.

After being told about numerous egr dpf faults I went down the route of having the dpf and egr blocked off then remapped etc.

Finally all lights are out then 'ding' engine management light back AGAIN!!!!

Now saying exhaust temp sensor!

Any body had any issues like this!

Also my car is in the emissions scandal could that be linked to any of this?

Thanks in advance sorry for such a long post just trying to get everything in.

What diagnostic equipment are you using? Had similar issue with our 1.6CR Sport original diagnosis (read by a Snap On code reader) said there was an fault with Lambda sensor (which was changed) only for the same fault to reappear. When read with VCDS (VAGCOM) fault diagnosed as EGR.

Car was remapped with EGR delete and DPF delete (although the guts need to be removed from DPF) and had no problems since.

For the last reading of the temp sensor it was a basic reader, but it did come up on the vagcom one also.

My dpf was ripped out and egr blanked off and remapped the light came back on I've removed it for the time being with the basic machine. If it does come back on I'll go back to my friend with his vagcom system to see what it says.

Your issue it pretty much the same as mine and same model too.

I hope the light doesn't come back on again but feeling doubtful.
Also there are three temp sensors on the car so not sure which one it is either.

Thanks for replying and sharing your knowledge with me, being a girl and a car enthusiast is fun but they are getting so complicated I get a bit lost.

Thank you x

No problem, hope sharing my experience helps!

This is a common issue with 1.6CR TDI across the whole VAG range. Part of the EGR system fails which it located right at the back of the engine and is a right pain to get to. The part itself is around £200-£300 but the main cost is labour, hence can cost from around £700 upto over £1000 depending on dealer. Cheaper if you use an independent garage. Some people have had varying success with Seat with them contributing to the cost of parts and labour but most cases there has to be full Seat service history.

I would always use VAGCOM for diagnostics now as the Snap On tool threw a 'red herring' with ours resulting in replacing a part that was not faulty.

Hope you get yours sorted soon!

Dan

Thanks Dan you've been really helpful, I'm not going to bother asking seat to pay up I don't have receipts for everything as the dpf egr removal was done at a mates rates.

I will have to ask shagmeister on here which is my friend with the vagcom system when it pops back up.

Thank you x
