1.8 20vt - no boost

Hi, for aprox. one month ago I pushed my old k03 to the limit, and my car went boom. Black smoke came out of the exhaust.
I managed to replace the old k03 (156hp) with a k03s (180hp).

My turbo whines more but it won't create any boost. I have changed the spark plugs, Airmass-meter ,turbo and some turbo-gaskets. My diagnostic-reader can't connect to my car either!

My car won't stay alive for more than 5secs with the airmass-meter plug fitted, but with it disconnected, it can stay alive for ever, but as mentioned without any boost..

you may have a dodgy MAF sensor.. my mate went through 4 before he found a good one.

ko3 can be pushed to 205bhp, ko3s can (i think) go to 230.

the only difference between the 156bhp and the 180 bhp cupra / cupra R is an engine map.

if you have changed the turbo have you had the car re-maped ? this could be an issue as difference between a ko3 and ko3s can effect the running.


does deffinatly sound like an air mass sensor (MAF)

i had the same issues and had to disconnect air mass sensor - turned out i had a hose pop of the intercooler -

could easily be intercooler hoses, had a similar problem too
