I am conducting a Market Research questionaire for part of a University Project based upon the design of a car part.
For this we are looking into the VAG 1.8 Turbo engine and in particular the recirculating (dump) valve. Which costs £60 + VAT and Fitting.

11 - What do you see as the benefits of an aftermarket valve? More power means more stress on engine parts, its something else that won't break prematurely!

I was advised that having the car remapped would damage the OEM Dv's diaphragm.

12 - Would you change back to OEM valve if it was serviceable and didnt void your warranty? Only if the performance was as above. It wasn't a servicing issue that made me change. So, No really, if it just servicability that changes.

5 - What would you expect the product life to be in Years or Mileage? if serviced correctly i would expect it to last for the life of the car.

8 - Why did you purchase this? was planning to get the car remapped so upgraded this to stop any chance of the standard one leaking due to the increase in pressure

12 - Would you change back to OEM valve if it was serviceable and didnt void your warranty? no, as they are manufactured to be cheap and therefore buit to withstand normal engine stresses. i would always fear that by running double the boost pressure that the OEM one would leak.

13 - What price would you expect to pay for a OEM serviceable valve? £100 - £150

13 - What price would you expect to pay for a OEM serviceable valve? I would probably expect to ay 60-70, from the dealers, based on previous experience of their prices.

Build parts that last, and people may not have to purchase quality replacements.

Dependant on quality/testing/performance etc.... if as good as aftermarket quality then the same price as the rest available £100-£150

Quality of build and reliability does really need to be looked into, especially on a high performance car with potential to be even better and more demanding of components in the future
