1.8T engine cutting out while driving

Hi all,

Having some issues with my car last night, did a search but couldn't really find anything similar. Driving along in 5th put my foot down, when I backed off the engine cut out. No warning lights, side lights stayed on but the rev counter/speedo etc went off. Pulled over to the side of the road and restarted the car with no problems, about 4 minutes later the problem happened again. I'm stumped, any ideas/advice appreciated.

Thanks

MAF censor maybe :/ this can do what your saying but its not the only thing that could do it. How does it idle. With the mass air flow censor playing up i would expect it to lose power to hold back on you as the flow will not be reading right and be jerky.

Also i just had mine done.. and it did cut-out a couple times and idle was not great. before i put it into garage. runs allot better but my idle needle is still little jerky but i think its down to throttle body.

I will try cleaning the maf then. Doesn't idle particularly badly, but it does seem to hold back sometimes. From 2nd into 3rd it feels the car takes ages to pick up.
