Has anyone attempted this? My base model is a 51plate seat arosa 1.0. I know it's petrol, just would love the extra.. torque :( lol

you want to swap the engines? or the cars? there would be no point swapping the engines as you could just buy a tdi one for less than it would cost to convert.

He wants the 1.9TDi engine , not the 1.4.

Where can you buy an Arosa 1.9 Tdi ?

forgive me i thought you were on about the 1.4 petrol.

there was, as you've said - no arosa with a 1.9 tdi, the largest engine used was the 1.7sdi.

All that said it would be a better option to find a diesel 1.4 and attempt the conversion or get a 1.4 and get it remapped (revo's map takes them to 105bhp), then its a whole new animal.

I know there was no arosa with a 1.9TDI, hence I wanted information if this has been done by anyone. I have driven other 1.9TDI vag cars and absolutely love that engine! Please no cheeky comments on buying something else. What is required for me to do this swap and has anyone done it?

you may have to get custom engine mounts, driveshafts and relocate half the things under the bonnet but it possible.

If you can fit a 1.8 20vt and all the cars that come with that engine also have a 1.9 diesel version, then I'd assume it'll fit.
Custom engine mounts, driveshafts and then figuring out the wiring. Shouldn't be too difficult if u have a full donor car

Also all the fuel hoses, pump - basically everything connected to the engine!

I'd also imagine it will make the car very nose heavy and tend towards massive understeer - I would look at an alternative smaller engine, the Arosa really isn't big enough to need a big engine like the 1.9, it will get along quite well with a 1.6 or smaller :)

Your most probably right, but i'm not looking to track the car, so understeer etc doesnt really bother me that much, i'm sure by some geometry, that can be sorted to half decent anyways!

As expected, custom mounts and as such will be needed, however, are there any off the shelf parts from an afertmarket company who has done this swap available?
I'm from the honda world and anything needed for a conversion, be it a lawnmower engine in a civic is available LOL :)

Easily doable, use same gearbox as people use for the 1,8t swap and mounts will be similar. im sure tsr performance or jbs will do it for you at a price. but your going to need better brakes and suspension as well.

will need radiator aswell so may have to get one custom made as i dont think the 1.8T one will fit.
