Hello all,
have a new Formentor since beginning of March, but have already an issue with 12V battery. Car was parked for ca. 2 months at the dealer before delivery (due to contractual reasons), in the winter (end of Dec. until beg. of March). So the car immediately at the dealer during hand-over and some introduction to that with ignition on posted message that "12V battery is low, start the motor". I can imagine that this 2 months without a single movement did not helped..

After delivery I tried charging with cheap charger, but I have feeling that it did not helped too much, measuring the voltage on battery shows only about 12.0-12.1V after charging. I made a highway trip of 400km recently and the same message "12V battery low, start the motor" appears at the parking lot after driving 150km.

So thinking of buying better battery charger, but I have some questions which I cannot find answers to. Unfortunately, the battery itself is somehow hidden in plastic cover, so I am not able to read specification of it.
  • Is it EFB or AGM battery? I am considering buying CTEK MXS 5.0 charger, shall I switch on AGM mode or not at all?
  • Is it normal that after 150km the battery might still be low?
I did not have any issue yet with starting, only the message appears so I started it up immediately and let motor running.
During the city driving I switch off as well start-stop system manually, so at the red signals motor is on.

Thx.
