Ok i've just fitted 4 new coil packs and it seem's to have sorted my problems.. Shame another problem has now come up.. Im getting the error:-

17763 - Cylinder 1 Ignition Circuit: Open Circuit

P1355 - 35-00 - -

Which im guessing is the circuit connected to the back of the coil.. They all seem to be connected ok so im abit stuck.. Any ideas?

mate did you ever suss this?

Mines just started doing the same thing, open circuit on cylinder 1, random/multiple missfire detected, missfire detected on cylinder 1 and now also missfire on cylinder 2.

Replaced coilpack on Cylinder1 same problem. Only seems to happen when the car has been running for a bit and is hot, when it cools down the problem goes...

if i take the pack out from cylinder 1 with the spark plug connected and earthing to the head I get no spark on the plug whatsoever with the new or old coil packs. I've tested the wires and all seem to have good connections whether it be live or earth all four seem good.

I've read on the net about splicing a new earth into the brown wire found in the coil pack connector however not sure if this is what's required.

Any advice/suggestions appreciated.

Yep. The plug is good condition with all gaps the same. The cylinder runs sweet up until a certain point where the misfire kicks in then i have no spark whatsoever.

Its funny watching VAG-COM log all the misfires detected on 1, within 2-3 seconds its around the 100-130 mark :)

Keep em comin'

I have noticed a bit of oil around the inlet manifold on that side of the engine thinking about it, which bank 4 doesn't seem to have.

Engine is fine most of the time and this does go when the engine has cooled down a bit... I'm going to check the large round connector near the gearbox/gear linkage area to make sure that is secured...

I don't think its a compression issue as the engine runs tip top sometimes even when hot and I also can't understand why its only one cylinder and why the hell the spark disappears totally, I'm going to run a new ground to the plug tonight to see if its a resistance issue when hot.

*Continues to fathom*
