Hey guys..

EPC light came on a few times over the recent bad weather and power was NONE exsistant! Turned car off, then back on and it was fine. Hasnt been on for a week or so now.

Had the car scanned today and the codes below came up. I have searched for 'EPC' and the main thing i found was about the brake lights (which i have checked and they are fine)

Couple of questions...
- Because the light hasnt been back on is it likely to have 'fixed' itself?
- has anyone else had this code? if so how much am i looking at to fix it?
- finally, would you suggest fixing it now? Or waiting for the light to come back on?

i have contact fault, pull down the connector under this parts (on the photo)

iam new user , i cant insert URLs...

cleaning the sensors and use contact cleaner (WD40, etc..)

ECU not seeing the accelerator pedal's input.

Often a problem with wiring - or a faulty pedal (which contains the sensor)

I know others here have splashed out on new pedals to discover that there's been a wiring fault. I'd try and sort it - if it goes again your car could be undriveable.

Experiencing this as well, and this is the first time the car has let me down in 7 years.
I had no time to investigate any further than plugging in the VAG COM to retrieve the fault code.
I am 95% certain that its water playing around with the ECU or connectors as it happened less than 1/2 a mile after washing the car!

Lucky for me I was able to nurse it back to work and park it where I have all my tools, and I will tackle the problem in the morning. I am very glad it didn't happen on a pan-European journey and get stuck in limp mode for hours and hours!

I will check the ECU first, as this has been out of the car twice for two remaps and I'm suspecting the Spanish tuner that did the mapping has neglected something somewhere. Most likely the spray shield that protects the ECU and harness to some degree.

I am hoping for a quick fix, as getting a new throttle pedal is a ball ache and no doubt will cost some freight.
Even though the car is built 3 hrs away from here, it takes up to a week to get OE parts...
UK Dwellers, consider yourselves lucky! Spain truly is a 3rd world country with Air-con....

So,I found the cause of the issue, even though the problem had vanished by the morning... Murphy's Law!
Where I have lead the boost gauge tube and the EGT thermocouple wire into the cabin, it was sealed by some Sikaflex. Over time the two had moved and opened up a gap between them. this was allowing a dribble of water in, and subsequently onto the pedal connector below. The tell tale signs that it had been happening for a while were the few water stains on the cabling.
A reseal, and spray with WD40 was all that it needed. I also took care of a squeak from the wiper linkage and sprayed the ECU connectors too as the scuttle panel was out....
There are no connectors other than the ones at the ECU in the scuttle, all the cables are lead inside through a grommet. If you are experiencing this problem after heavy rain I'd suspect the grommet has perished to a degree allowing water inside. Take a good torch, lie on your back in the drivers footwell and have a look for any water marks on the cabling above the throttle pedal. You might find the problem there.
