My car is built (got confirmation on 18/02) and should be shipped very soon (if it's not already on the way). Should I expect it to have the all singing and dancing software update?
I'm not too sure mate, I got told mine arrived in the UK last week but haven't heard anything since. Might be a question of asking if it has the latest software version and if not could they update it for you before pickup

Thanks Splosh. I'll wait until I get confirmation that it's reached the dealership before asking any questions about the software. Meantime, could you post what software your new motor has when you pick it up (I'm sure you will anyway). I shall do likewise. Cheers chum.

I will do, just glad it's getting closer to delivery day! I'm going to do the same when I get confirmation it's arrived at the dealer

To clarify (or add to the confusion....) the HW is the same on all cars regardless of firmware version, so, when the 16xx units get updated, weirdly enough, it seems the trailing letter in the HW version will also change (???)

Again, I know this sounds really weird, but my source is quite reliable - I doubt many know better what they are talking about.
Same as Mib2 high. Part number gets adjusted after an update.

Will they update this update automatically if it is going in for something else?

Mine is going in next week as the battery is broken. We found a hanging note under a seat saying battery damaged on Saturday, then on Sunday it wouldn't start! Its booked in for Tuesday but they want it for 2 days so they can fully test the battery as it is a warranty repair now!

I am hoping they will do it at the same time.

Best to ask them when you take it in. Seems they will have it in long enough to run any updates and any coding if there is any open to do.

Thanks, that's what I thought. I have had a couple of KM rather than miles on the ACC and 1 refusal to overtake, but I have to say the ACC has been miles ahead of the standard cruise control I had on my previous A4.
