At most £150, as long as you use genuine parts and have it done by a vat registered garage there should be no warrenty issues.

yep as above, however should there be a warranty claim then a book full of SEAT stamps makes it easier, not that it should make any difference.

do the dealers actually go through the service book then should your car require any warranty work?

just wondering as I keep my books indoors as the glove compartment is so small and have had some work done on the car before from a dealers I'd never been to.

I'll need to make another trip too as the air con hasnt worked (passenger side does but not drivers side) for aaaaaages but cant be arsed to take it to the dealers, will do though.

Hey All,

My first service is coming up on my K1 and got some Q's:

1. How much roughly is it going to cost me?

2. Within the 3yrs of warrenty, do i have to take the car to a Seat Dealership to have the servicing? Or can i take it to any specialist i.e. JKM ?

Many Thanks

Lee
Certainly get the first service done at a SEAT dealership, along with a list of "problems" if any also going to a non franchised dealer you will NOT get any s/w upgrades - try and hold it to franchised dealer whilst in warranty you will have a easier task in proving a warranty claim [ I know its a pain]

As long as you adhere to the genuine bits rule and get your book stamped by a vat registered garage then they cant refuse to do the work, thats trading standards rule.

Warranty within the specified period isn't affected, however the 2 year SEAT Assistance package is dependant upon having it serviced by a SEAT dealer and if you have a need for a goodwill claim after your warranty period SEAT will not even consider it if you've not shown what they call brand loyalty.

Why not contact Barry up at Wiltshires who have years and years of experiance as a family run dealership, they've spent tens of thousands of pounds (as have all the dealerships) having their technicians trained by VAG and invested just as much in the correct equipment. The dealers are not the enemy.
